MIRI (Aug 16): The Skuad Kasih Sayang (SKS) Bekenu has stepped up its outreach efforts to ensure rural residents do not miss out on the various forms of assistance provided by the Sarawak government.
State Deputy Minister for Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Datuk Rosey Yunus said the programme, held at Kampung Bekenu Asli on Wednesday, reflected the squad's commitment to safeguarding the welfare of villages and longhouses in the Bekenu area.
'Today's programme involved visits to 10 families facing hardships, including senior citizens in need of attention and care.
'This outreach was supported by Kampung Bekenu Asli village chief Abdul Rahman, who provided early information on several families requiring assistance,' said Rosey, who is also Bekenu assemblywoman.
During the visits, the SKS team distributed food items and compassionate cash assistance to the affected families.
Led by Councillor Hadijah Sheikh Kasim, the team also helped process applications for welfare aid for senior citizens and other eligible recipients.
'Families whose homes were damaged were also assisted in applying for home repairs, while others were guided in their Kenyalang Gold Card applications and other related needs,' she added. Bekenu Rosey Yunus Skuad Kasih Sayang
