Terrifying moment daredevil darts star jumps off 200m tower at 53mph before New Zealand Masters

DARTS STAR Josh Rock has shocked fans with a daring leap from the 200m Auckland Sky Tower. The Northern Irish thrower is enjoying his spare time ahead of the New Zealand Masters. 5 5 5 The SkyJump at the tower is considered a must-see for thrill seekers visiting the islands. The jump from the 192 metre high platform at the Sky Tower - the tallest structure in New Zealand - reaches speeds of up to 52 miles-per-hour on the way down. 'Rocky' shared images and video of him enjoying the attraction alongside fellow darts stars Damon Heta and Chris Dobey. It is not the image of calm, relaxed preparation that most would expect from elite athletes readying to begin a major competition. It did not seem to slow Rock down, however, as he cruised to a 6-2 victory over New Zealander John Hurring this morning in his opening match of the tournament, earning his spot in the quarter-finals. Rock is number 11 in the PDC world rankings but has experienced a resurgence of late as strong performances push him into the darting spotlight. The 24-year-old won an emotional World Cup of Darts for Northern Ireland in June alongside teammate Daryl Gurney. He was then part of a historic moment at the World Matchplay last month when he lost the 'most perfect leg in history' to close friend and rival Luke Littler. 5 Littler and Rock both opened with consecutive 180s, but it was the English sensation who finished it off with a 141 checkout. Littler went on to win that bout 17-14 in what became an instant classic at the Winter Gardens. His last tournament appearance was not so eventful, falling to a 6-0 thrashing by Stephen Bunting at the Australia Darts Masters last week.
