Skye Blue Comments On AEW Return
Skye Blue is on her way back to All Elite Wrestling. On the July 20, 2024 episode of AEW Collision, Skye Blue suffered a broken ankle in her match against Hikaru Shida. The injury was caught almost immediately, and the match was stopped before further damage could be done. Advertisement Blue would appear for AEW months later in her hometown of Chicago during All Out: Zero Hour. Blue would be attacked by Mariah May before being saved by Queen Aminata. Earlier this week on AEW Collision, it was announced that Blue was cleared to return and would be competing next week at the Dynamite: Beach Break special in Chicago. She'll compete in a four-way Eliminator match with Timeless Toni Storm. The other two competitors have yet to be named for this match. Skye Blue took to social media following the announcement of her return, tweeting out: 'Did ya miss me? *Smiling face with horns emoji,*' Skye said in a post. WrestleZone will have live coverage of AEW Dynamite: Beach Break next Wednesday. Skye Blue Recalls Scary Details Of Her Broken Ankle Injury
Skye Blue returns to the ring this week on AEW Dynamite, but the scary details of her injury are still fresh in her mind. All Elite Wrestling's Skye Blue was a recent guest on Q101. When asked about her broken ankle injury came about last year in her match with Hikaru Shida, Blue detailed the events of that night and the brutal details of her injury that put her on the shelf for almost a year. Advertisement 'I was catching a dive. I've caught dives before so I didn't think anything of it,' Skye Blue said. 'As she jumped, I could tell something was off with it. It was either her head was hitting the floor or I was going to dive and catch her. I dove and caught her. The second I felt it, I rolled over to get up because I had to crawl to where I was going, I felt my foot dangling from my leg. 'I could feel it detached. It was the grossest feeling that I've ever felt. Before I even told the ref, 'Hey, my ankle is messed up,' there was already a doctor in front of me. She's like, 'You're done. You're not getting up.' 'No, let me finish the match.' I tried to get up and I screamed. 'She goes, 'Sit down. You're done.' 'Okay.' I was terrified because I just wanted to finish the match. I never felt anything like this. It was the first major injury. I snapped my fibula. There are two long screws (on one side) and (on the other side) is a plate and six screws. That was probably the scariest thing ever.' When asked if she thought that injury might have meant the end of her career, Blue admitted that the thought did cross her mind. Advertisement 'That definitely crossed through my head a bunch of times, especially at night when I couldn't sleep,' Skye Blue admitted. 'It'd be like four in the morning and there were times I would have to lay with my leg straight because if I moved it, it was in pain. [Kyle] was the best because he'd be like, 'Tell those voices to shut up. You're going to wrestle. You're not going to just sit on this couch and mop.'
