Skyy Moore moves from 4-time Super Bowl-winning team to 5-time Super Bowl-winning team

Despite being a two-time Super Bowl champion at the start of his NFL career, Moore only delivered–43 receptions for 494 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown in 36 games. This underproduction could have been a key factor in the changes the Chiefs want to make before they enter the 2025 NFL season. The Chiefs also reportedly sent a seventh-round draft pick to the Niners, who traded a sixth-round pick to the Chiefs in return. The 49ers were searching for help at wide receiver after receiving news Wednesday that receiver Demarcus Robinson was suspended for three games for a substance-abuse-policy violation. Fellow 49ers receivers Brandon Aiyuk (knee) and Jauan Jennings (calf) are also dealing with injuries. Aiyuk is expected to miss more than a month of the regular season as he recovers from an ACL tear. Jennings has not practiced for most of training camp. 49ers trade for Chiefs receiver Skyy Moore, AP source says
SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — The San Francisco 49ers agreed to a deal to acquire receiver Skyy Moore from the Kansas City Chiefs on Wednesday. A person familiar with the trade said the teams will swap sixth- and seventh-round picks in 2027 in the deal that sends Moore to San Francisco. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the trade can't be finalized until Moore passes a physical. Moore was drafted by Kansas City in the second round in 2022 but hasn't produced much in his first three seasons. He had 43 catches for 494 yards and one TD in 36 games. He didn't catch a single pass last season because of a a core muscle injury. Moore did catch a TD pass in the fourth quarter of Kansas City's 38-35 win in the Super Bowl against Philadelphia following the 2022 season. Moore had an 88-yard punt return for a touchdown in the fourth quarter of a preseason game last Friday at Seattle. The 49ers have gone 227 consecutive regular-season games without a punt return touchdown for the second longest active drought in the NFL. The Niners were in dire need of healthy receivers. Brandon Aiyuk is working his way back from major knee surgery and isn't expected to be able to play until at least Week 6, while fellow starter Jauan Jennings has been out for most of training camp with a calf injury. Coach Kyle Shanahan said Wednesday on his radio show that Demarcus Robinson is facing a three-game suspension, pending appeal, after pleading no contest last month to a misdemeanor DUI charge. Rookie Jordan Watkins is out with a high ankle sprain and second-year pro Jacob Cowing is nursing a hamstring injury. On Wednesday, August 20, the Kansas City Chiefs traded veteran wide receiver Skyy Moore to the San Francisco 49ers. Moore, who was the Chiefs' second-round pick in the 2022 NFL draft, was a member of Kansas City's Super Bowl LVII and LVIII rosters, but struggled to earn a consistent role in the team's offense. In three regular-season campaigns with the Chiefs, Moore recorded 43 receptions for 494 yards and one receiving touchdown. As a rusher, Moore tallied six carries for 47 yards. He scored a touchdown in Kansas City's victory over the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LVII, but failed to make an appearance in Super Bowl LVIII. In exchange for Moore, the Chiefs received a favorable late-round pick swap with San Francisco. Though he seemed to be facing headwinds in his effort to make Kansas City's 53-man roster, Moore should be a valuable addition for the 49ers, who will have some serious competition in their receiving corps after the departure of Deebo Samuel in the offseason.
