Sligo GAA TV to stream over 20 games of Club Championship
Sligo GAA has agreed a sponsorship for its Sligo GAA TV streaming service with Bunninadden based Agricultural services company Brennan Agri Services.
The deal will support the provision of over 20 matches which will enable Sligo GAA to share its games with those that are unable to travel or are living away from home.
Sligo GAA Chairman Declan Rouse said: 'The streaming of our club games has rapidly become a recognised part of the championship experience. There is a real demand, particularly from those that are living away from home, and we are delighted to link up with a committed local sponsor and a local broadcast services provider to create that opportunity for our supporters'.
The SligoGAATV service is provided to Sligo GAA by highly experienced Sligo based broadcast producer Rory O'Brien, who has been working almost 20 years in the streaming production space.
This year SligoGAATV will show two games in each round of the group stages of the Homeland Senior Football Championship with each club in the competition featuring at least once.
Once the competition moves to the knockout stages it will be showing action from each of the Homeland Senior, Connacht Gold Intermediate and Connacht Gold Junior Football championships as well as the final of the Davis's Yeats Tavern Senior Hurling Championship.
SligoGAATV uses broadcast grade cameras and equipment to provide a full 1080p HD stream – a similar standard to that used by established national providers such as TG4 and GAA+. It works in collaboration with Ocean FM on the provision of commentary and analysis
In addition, the SligoGAATV website provides access to a full archive of all the games that it has covered since 2020.
In a new development this year it will also host galleries of photographs from as many of the Sligo championship games as it is able to cover.
Mr O'Brien added: 'With advances in technology, the ability to create high quality recordings and transmissions is now at our fingertips. Initially it was only possible to transmit out of a small number of, mainly, urban based grounds but each year that number grows and as the national telecommunications infrastructure grows, so too will our capacity to transmit from new locations'.
Brennan Agri Services has over 30 years of service to Sligo farmers in pit and baled silage production, ploughing and reseeding, umbilical and tank slurry spreading and lime spreading. Owner Richard Brennan, who has had a lifelong association with the GAA in his native Bunninadden and with Sligo GAA said: 'I have seen first-hand the interest in watching games live even when supporters can't attend in person. I am delighted to have the opportunity to support the provision of our games to a wider audience. It also enables people living away from home, those who are older or those that are ill to stay in touch with the progress of their local club'.
