Ballygawley Music Festival and Sligo Jazz 2025 get underway in the coming days, while South Sligo Summer School continues until this weekend. Check out our top pick of this week's events below. Ballygawley Music Festival Ballygawley Music Festival takes place this weekend from Friday July 18 until Sunday July 20 in Ballygawley and is expected to sell-out. Enjoy music from Johnny Brady, Mike Denver, Claudia Buckley and more. Tickets available from Sligo Jazz 2025 Sligo Jazz Project's annual Summer School and Festival runs from 22-27 July 2025, bringing a team of 33 world-class musicians from all over the world to teach and perform in Sligo. Sligo will become a global hub for music lovers, students, and jazz legends, as it hosts Europe's largest and most inclusive Jazz Summer School alongside its internationally renowned Jazz Festival. See for more South Sligo Summer School South Sligo Summer School continues in Tubbercurry until this Saturday, July 19. Classes and workshops continue, and there will be lots of live music and dancing throughout the remainder of the festival. Wipeout Wipeout Festival is taking place in Strandhill this Saturday July 19 from 1pm. The festival aims to promote new independently minded bands playing original music, giving them the platform to perform at an outdoor festival on the grounds of the National Surf Centre in Strandhill. This free all day music festival features bands from Dublin and Belfast and of course Sligo. Lunchtime at the Well Lunchtime at the Well continues with a special performance from Jacinta Ní Chonghaile, Aidan Shannon and Enda McGreevy who will be performing at the Hawk's Well on Wednesday July 16 at 1:10pm. These events are free to attend (pay what you can). Rambling House Rambling House takes place at the Coleman Music Centre in Gurteen on Wednesday, July 16 from 8pm. The Rambling House Concerts are cherished events that celebrate Ireland's rich tradition of music, song, and storytelling. ADVERTISEMENT Sligo Stages Rally The FAAC Simply Automatic/Sligo Park Hotel Stages Rally takes place this Sunday, July 20. A full entry of 165 cars plus eight Dacia Sandero crews will leave Parc Fermé at Sligo Retail Park, Carraroe, at 9am on Sunday, with the first car due at the Connolly Cupra finish ramp at the Sligo Park Hotel from 5.30pm. We've compiled a list of the best things to do in Sligo this week. Yeats Day A number of events take place in Sligo from June 12-15 to celebrate Yeats Day. There will be poetry, lectures, painting, walks and lots more to mark the occasion, with a birthday cake and a recital of the Lake Isle of Innisfree taking place on Friday, June 13 at Queen Maeve Square at 1pm. Sligo Jazz Project launch Sligo Jazz Project launches its 20th birthday festival programme on June 12 with a very special night of music. First, there will be refreshments at 7pm in Lillies Cocktail Bar (admission free) when the launch of the 20th birthday festival programme, with music provided by Young Irish Jazz Musician 2024 Rory Conneally. Then upstairs for €10, you can witness critically acclaimed UK Guitarist Ant Law with Milan-born Turkish singer Brigitte Beraha starting a short Irish duo tour. Guided Tour: The Dreaming Road This summer, The Model is offering guided tours of the Jack B. Yeats exhibition The Dreaming Road. Led by an expert curator, the tour explores Yeats' life, his love of Sligo and how it is reflected in all of his art. These 45-minute experiences take place every Saturday at 11am, throughout June, July, and August. You can get along to a guided tour this Saturday, June 14. Cloudbusting Hawk's Well Theatre is excited to welcome back Cloudbusting – The Music of Kate Bush on Sunday, June 15. This popular tribute show brings the music of Kate Bush to life with amazing singing and live instruments. Tickets for Cloudbusting – The Music of Kate Bush are available from Hawk's Well Box Office. Chorus in Rememory of Flight Julianknxx's 'Chorus in Rememory of Flight' comes to an end at The Model on June 21, so catch it before it's too late. This major work, by one of the UK's most exciting artists, Julianknxx, is borne out of a year in which Julianknxx travelled to cities across Europe to locate and collaborate with ex-patriot African communities. Eamonn Mullarkey and friends Hawk's Well Theatre has announced the next performance in its much-loved Lunchtime at the Well concert series, featuring local legend Eamonn Mullarkey and Friends on Wednesday, June 11th at 1.10pm. While the event remains Pay what you can, advance booking is now essential to guarantee a seat due to its overwhelming success. Sligo rovers v Waterford The League of Ireland returns after the international break this weekend, and Sligo Rovers are back at The Showgronds on Saturday evening when John Russell's men take on Waterford. Former Rovers boss John Coleman makes his return as manager of The Blues, with Rovers legend Danny Ventre now the assistant manager. Kick-off is 7.45pm. Elevation Conor Gallagher's 'Elevation' runs at Hamilton Gallery until Friday, June 27. The show features paintings, photography and prints which are part of Conor's 'Sligo Mountain Series'. Conor's paintings in acrylic with their dramatic monotone blue skies offer a unique view of these familiar locations. Fermanagh v Sligo Tony McEntee's men will take on Fermanagh this weekend in the Tailteann Cup quarter-final at Brewster Park. Why not take a spin up the road to Enniskillen to cheer Sligo on.
