Kitchie Nadal bares reason why she relocated to Spain in 2017

After being in the limelight for years, Kitchie Nadal took a break from her music career and moved to Spain in 2017 with her Spanish husband Carlos Lopez. In Monday's episode of 'Fast Talk With Boy Abunda,' the OPM icon shared that she moved to Madrid for love and to build a life with their children. 'Love. Of course, love. I married a Spanish guy, nagkakilala kami during Yolanda. We are both volunteers. And then 'yon, ang bilis na-develop,' Kitchie explained. 'He decided to stay and then we got to know each other more. And we got married. We had a baby. When we had a baby, we decided to move to Spain,' she added. When asked about her life in Madrid, Kitchie says she is 'really happy' because she was able to focus on her family. 'I'm really happy. Kasi iba ang lifestyle doon eh. I was able to focus [on] my family, hands-on with the kids like everyone. Ang dami kong natutunan doon. House chores, lahat, multi-tasking. Talagang ano, I really love how I was able to focus on them,' she shared. She added that she missed performing while in Spain and would hold intimate gigs there for the Filipino communities abroad. "Syempre mas maliit siya but I really find it, for me fun nga siya kasi parang ang intimate and then parang feeling ko ang meaningful ng dating kasi parang you get to unite the Filipinos there," she said. In 2020, Kitchie released a Spanish version of her hit single 'Huwag na Huwag Mong Sasabihin,' titled 'No Me Digas.' According to the Filipina singer, her husband Carlos Lopez helped her translate the lyrics into Spanish. In the same "Fast Talk" interview, Kitchie was also asked if there was a chance for her to move back to the Philippines. "Anything is possible. We're open to anything," she said. Kitchie held a concert in the Philippines in June at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. She also held a concert in 2024 at the New Frontier Theater to mark her 20th anniversary in the music industry. A pillar of OPM rock, Kitchie is the hitmaker behind 'Huwag Na Huwag Mong Sasabihin,' 'Same Ground,' 'Bulong !!!' and 'Makulay na Buhay.' —Jade Veronique Yap/CDC, GMA Integrated News

Kitchie Nadal open to possibility of moving back to PH

"Anything is possible." This was Kitchie Nadal's answer when asked in "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda" on Monday if there was a chance for her to move back to the Philippines. "We're open to anything," she added. Kitchie moved to Spain in 2017 with her Spanish husband, journalist Carlos Lopez, following the birth of her first son and has been based there ever since. According to Kitchie, she did not expect that her career would be the same again when she moved to Spain for love. "I was just happy to be living there and then nagkaroon lang ng opportunities eh. I don't know how it happened, basta nagkaroon lang ng demand to come back here and do concerts, and I said yes," she said. "Kaya ayoko ring magsalita nang tapos kasi parang, 'yun nga eh, 'yung concert, I didn't even think about that. Never in my wildest dream that it'll happen in my 20th year or 21st year." Kitchie marked her 20th anniversary in the music industry in 2024 with a concert, dubbed "Same Ground," at the New Frontier Theater in Quezon City. The show featured Kitchie's good friends in the industry, namely Barbie Almalbis, Aia de Leon, Lougee Basabas, Hannah Romawac, Acel Bisa, and Mayonnaise's Monty Macalino. In June, she held another concert, titled "New Ground," at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in celebration of her 21st year in the industry. The OPM rock icon is known for the hits "Huwag Na Huwag Mong Sasabihin," Same Ground," "Bulong!!!" and many more. Kitchie and Carlos tied the knot in 2025. They have two sons: Keon, born in 2017, and Iago, born in 2023. —CDC, GMA Integrated News

TJ Monterde looks back at rejections, reveals he almost quit music before his rise to success

Before achieving widespread recognition, TJ Monterde faced significant challenges, including numerous rejections and financial difficulties that one point led him to consider giving up on his music career. On Thursday's 'Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,' the OPM singer admitted experiencing rejections was painful. 'Marami pero—masakit siya, 'yung mga rejections siyempre,' he said, sharing he would often receive the usual "we'll get back to you" response. A particularly heartbreaking experience involved securing a September gig two months prior to the schedule. He remembered being very excited about the opportunity; he had no other work to look forward to at the time. 'Everyday, practice ako. Pagdating ng mga one week before, biglang hindi natuloy kasi may kinuhang bigger artist kesa sa 'kin. So [that's] one of the heartbreaks sa mga una na. Hindi ka puwedeng sobrang madaling ma-hurt,' TJ said. He also struggled financially, sharing he would take on side gigs to make ends meet. 'As much as I can, nagvo-voice overs ako sa commercials. 'Yun 'yung ginagawa ko. I do voice-overs for radio and TV commercials. Nag-ho-host ako ng events kung kaya ko,' he said. His dad would even check up on him and ask how he's doing. 'There was this time na wala na talaga kaming pera. As in, wala na,' TJ said, recalling a time when he asked his friend, Makoy, if he had enough money for just dinner, as his own money from his father wouldn't arrive until the next day. Makoy managed to scrape together just enough money to buy them buy-one-take-one burgers. 'Habang naglalakad kami papunta do'n sa circle, nakatingin ako sa daan hoping that I'd find like P10 or P20 na 'Lord sana may P10 ditong makita ako para man lang may pang-soft drinks kami,'' TJ said. This made TJ question his path, wondering if what he was doing with his life was right and if he should just return home. 'Pero wala eh. There's just—every time, lagi Niyang sinasabi sa 'kin na tuloy mo lang, may pupuntahan ka. There's always a small voice. I hear it,' he said. TJ released his first single, 'Ikaw at Ako,' in 2012 and the rest is history. Among his other hit songs are 'Dating Tayo' and 'Palagi' with his wife, KZ Tandingan. In February, he had a three-night concert at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. Perhaps TJ's story on perseverance and faith is one we need as we try to finish the week with flying colors. — Carby Basina/LA, GMA Integrated News
