108 health & wellness centres in Lucknow to be mapped on Google

The health and wellness centers in Lucknow will soon be integrated with Google Maps, making it easier for patients to locate nearby centers and access essential healthcare services. According to officials, this initiative is a joint effort by the health department and the Smart City Project, aimed at improving the accessibility and usage of these centers. 'The plan of this integration process is at its initial stage in Lucknow. In this, patients can access 108 Ayushman Arogya Mandir (health and wellness centres) situated in urban areas of the city,' confirmed Yogesh Raghuwanshi, public relation officer at chief medical office (CMO) Lucknow on Thursday. He further explained, 'In February 2018, the Government of India announced the establishment of 1,50,000 health and wellness centres (HWCs) by upgrading existing sub-centres and primary health centres, forming the foundation of the Ayushman Bharat scheme. These centres are equipped to provide comprehensive primary health care (CPHC), bringing healthcare closer to people's homes. They cover a wide range of services, including maternal and child health care, non-communicable diseases, and offer free essential medicines and diagnostic services.' At present, Lucknow has a total of 54 urban community health centres (CHCs) and eight rural CHCs, along with 12 primary health centres (PHCs) located in rural areas, primarily serving densely populated regions and slum localities. 'The locations of CHC's and PHC's in both urban and rural areas are available on Google Maps, but this facility has not yet been extended to health and wellness centers. After the integration of these centres with Google Maps, anyone will be able to easily locate them and learn about the services offered, which will benefit the general public. Patients will simply need to enter their area name to search for nearby Health and Wellness Centers, making healthcare services more accessible,' he explained. He said these centres provide free treatment for common illnesses like cold, cough, fever, and diarrhea, as well as vaccinations for children. These centres also hold campaigns against malaria, dengue, and polio, he added.

Sofiya Qureshi row: Vijay Shah stays away from MP cabinet meet

Bhopal: Eventually, Madhya Pradesh Tribal Welfare Minister Kunwar Vijay Shah opted to skip the cabinet meeting amid ongoing controversy surrounding his 'offensive' remarks about senior Army officer Colonel Sofiya Qureshi. His decision to stay away comes in the wake of the Supreme Court's directive to form a Special Investigation Team to probe the matter. In compliance, the Director General of Police has formed a team of senior IPS officers: Pramod Verma, Inspector General (IGP) of Sagar; Kalyana Chakravarthy, Deputy Inspector General of the Special Armed Forces (SAF); and Vahini Singh, Superintendent of Police (SP) in Dindori. The historic Rajwada Palace in Indore became the focal point of political and cultural significance on Tuesday as the Madhya Pradesh cabinet convened a special meeting to commemorate the 300th birth anniversary of Ahilyabai Holkar -- the revered ruler of Indore. The meeting organised in the Ganesh Hall of Rajwada aimed to honour her legacy and discuss key developmental initiatives for the state. One of the key agenda items for the cabinet meeting was the presentation of the 'MP Metropolitan Planning and Development Act 2025.' Additionally, a budget of Rs 2,200 crore was earmarked for the construction of Advaita Lok, an Adi Shankar Museum in Omkareshwar. The state's Vision Document 2047 was also set for discussion, divided into eight thematic groups. The significance of Rajwada as a venue for ministerial deliberations dates back to 1945, when Yashwant Rao III presided over the last Council of Ministers meeting at this historic site. In a parallel effort to preserve Indore's architectural heritage, Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav led the Bhoomi Pujan ceremony for the restoration of gardens at both Lalbagh Palace and Rajwada Palace. The Indore Municipal Corporation has allocated Rs 20 lakh for the beautification of these spaces. Rajwada, a structure with a legacy spanning over two centuries, has witnessed the ebb and flow of history. It suffered damage during the 1984 riots, necessitating extensive restoration efforts decades later. More recently, under the Smart City Project, the palace underwent a major refurbishment for Rs 20 crore, restoring its grandeur. Ahilyabai Holkar, born into a distinguished Marathi Hindu family, was the daughter of Mankoji and Sushila Shinde from Chandi village, now part of Ahmednagar district in Maharashtra. Her father, a member of the Dhangar community, ensured she was raised in an environment steeped in tradition and virtue. Her rise to prominence was shaped by her association with Malhar Rao Holkar, a formidable commander in the army of Maratha Peshwa Baji Rao I and the ruler of Malwa. She later established Maheshwar in Madhya Pradesh as the seat of the Holkar dynasty, leaving behind a legacy of governance and architectural marvels.

Mumbai: The Maharashtra Cabinet, chaired by the Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, on Tuesday, approved the levy of a stamp duty of Rs 1,000 for registration of the lease deed of houses allotted in Mauja Punapur under 'Home Sweet Home' to those affected by the Nagpur Smart City project. According to the government release, 28 houses have been allotted to those affected by the Smart City Project. A stamp duty of around Rs 40,000 to 45,000 was to be paid while registering the deed for these houses. However, the Cabinet approved the concessional stamp duty of Rs 1,000 against Rs 40,000-50,000 for the registration of those houses. Injury, death beckon from open manholes in city

1 2 3 4 5 6 Lucknow: For many Lucknow residents, walking or commuting on vehicles on Mahatma Gandhi Marg, or roads in Alambagh, Gomtinagar, Uthratia and several other areas has become a daily peril. Open, damaged and poorly maintained manholes and pits dug for electricity wires are turning footpaths into danger zones, putting pedestrians at serious risk.A reality check by TOI revealed multiple uncovered or broken manholes across key areas. One of the worst-hit stretches is Mahatma Gandhi Marg, where a newly built footpath, part of the ambitious Smart City Project, is now riddled with hazards. Pedestrians who were promised a safer walk are now forced to navigate a minefield of open manholes and crumbling Bank Colony resident Suresh Sonker, 52, raised concerns about the deteriorating condition of the footpath on Mahatma Gandhi Marg. "The manholes are lying open for over a month now and we have to be extremely careful while walking there, especially at night," he said.60-year-old Suman Awasthi, who enjoys walking along the Kargil Shaheed Park, said, "The broken footpath with open manholes make every stroll feel risky as if we misstep, we could fall in and it could be fatal." Resident of Alambagh near Vaishno Devi Temple, Rakesh Verma, said, "I saw accidents happen regularly, but no one listens to our complaints. Drains overflow, manholes are often left open and mosquitoes breed everywhere. The stench is unbearable. We're forced to cover the manholes ourselves just to make the roads safer. Children and elderly people are at constant risk. Who's going to take responsibility if someone falls and gets hurt?"Situation in Gomtinagar, city's upscale neighbourhood, is no better. Residents report open manholes being left uncovered for weeks, often marked only by a stray branch or cloth. Regular commuter Ajay Tandon said, "We pay taxes for development, not to dodge death on sidewalks."In Uthratia, another open manhole has become a focal point of concern. Without streetlights in the area, it's almost impossible to see after dark. A local vendor, Satish, said, "It's pitch dark there, with no streetlights and someone could fall into the manhole and get seriously hurt."Additional municipal commissioner Pankaj Srivastava said, "The problem has come to our notice and we will form a team to conduct a survey of the damaged and open manholes. Repair work will be carried out in the city soon."
