Main road shut as emergency repairs get underway after water pipe bursts
Motorists in the Smithills area are being diverted this morning after a road was closed overnight for emergency repairs to take place.
Smithills Deane Road opposite Smithills High School is closed, as United Utilities work to fix a leak which sprung up yesterday morning.
Properties in the BL1 area were left without out water or low pressure from around 8.30pm.

"This may mean your water pressure is lower than normal or you may notice fluctuations during peak times.
"We're sorry for any disruption this may be causing, please be assured we're doing all we can to keep this to a minimum. Thanks again for your patience."
One local said: "Some motorists are ignoring the road closure signs and are having to turn back, there are diversions in place so people can get to where they need to go."
