Rescue teams in Snohomish County responded to a 19-year-old man who had twisted his knee while hiking near Big Eddy in Gold Bar, Sky Valley Fire posted on Facebook. The man had become exhausted and lost near the Skykomish River in the early morning hours on Wednesday. Officials from Sky Valley Fire began searching on the ground and a deputy from the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office deployed a drone to help in the search. The Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) found the hiker signaling for help with a flashlight in thick brush and the drone pilot led crews on the ground to his location, Sky Valley Fire said. Rescue crews set up a rope system to lower the man down to a road below where an ambulance was waiting to take him to the hospital.

Snohomish County, WA deputies seek help in Lynnwood drive-by shooting
The Brief The Snohomish County Sheriff's Office is seeking help identifying suspects in a drive-by shooting incident in Lynnwood. Deputies say two white men in a black sedan shot at a Hispanic man's truck after leaving LA Fitness. Tips can be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers, and a cash reward is available if the tip leads to an arrest. LYNNWOOD, Wash. - Snohomish County Sheriff's deputies are asking for your help to identify the suspects who shot at a man's truck after he left the LA Fitness Gym on Mukilteo Speedway in Lynnwood. What we know The victim is Hispanic. The suspects are two white men driving an older black lowered sedan, possibly a Honda Accord-style race car with tinted windows. It happened on May 5 after he saw four vehicles pull into the parking lot of the gym and start doing donuts. The victim says the gym's surveillance cameras were not working. He had no interaction with them, but a black sedan followed his truck as he drove home, pulled up alongside him, and the passenger started shooting. "When I looked to the side, they pulled the window down and they pointed a gun at me but they didn't say nothing, so I got scared and kept driving my truck to my sister's house. I called her but she didn't answer. I called the police and they picked up, and then at the light they shot at me and they broke the passenger seats and I got scared. I wondered who these people are," said the victim, who did not want to be identified for his safety. If you have any information on the identity of the suspects or the location of their car, please contact the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound through the P3 Tips App on your cell phone or call 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). There is a cash reward offered of up to $1,000 for the tip that leads to an arrest. You can reference case #25-60310. Deputies arrest 11-year-old boy for carrying knives to WA middle school
The Brief Alderwood Middle School in Lynnwood went into lockdown after an 11-year-old boy was seen on campus with a knife. Deputies arrested the boy and seized two knives. Authorities say this was the same boy who allegedly tried to stab a student in April 2025. LYNNWOOD, Wash. - A Snohomish County middle school went into lockdown after an 11-year-old boy was seen on campus with a knife, just a month after attempting to stab another student, police say. Snohomish County deputies were called around 3:00 p.m. to Alderwood Middle School in Lynnwood, over reports of a child on campus with a knife. According to authorities, school was already out for the day, and the building went into modified after-school lockdown during the incident. When deputies arrived, the 11-year-old suspect ran, but they caught up with him and took him into custody. Deputies found two knives on the child and seized them. Dig deeper The Snohomish County Sheriff's Office confirmed to FOX 13 Seattle that this is the same suspect in an attempted stabbing at Alderwood back in early April. At that time, authorities say the boy tried to stab a student, but a teacher stopped him before anyone got hurt. The student ran, but a parent turned him over to police two days later. He was booked into Denny Juvenile Justice Center for second-degree assault and possession of a deadly weapon on school property. Family of missing Arlington man files complaint over handling of investigation
The family of a missing man with autism has filed a formal complaint against the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office for how his case is being handled. Jonathan Hoang went missing from his Arlington home on the evening of March 30. He hasn't been seen or heard from since, and his family worries he was kidnapped. 'I'm frightened that because of the label, him being autistic,' his sister Irene Hoang Pfister told KIRO 7 last week. 'The people searching for him made an assumption, you know, that he just wandered off. But we think that someone took him.' For about a week, rescue crews searched on foot, with K9 units, drones, and even helicopters to try and find Hoang. They didn't have any luck and called off their search. Pfister said the Snohomish County Sheriff's deputies told her they won't search again, that as an adult, he is free to leave. 'They said because there is no evidence of a crime taking place or foul play has taken place, they don't think there's much that major crimes will do,' she said, 'which is really, it was devastating to hear yesterday.' Upset by the response, Hoang's sister confirmed to KIRO 7 that her family has contacted the FBI. The FBI told them to file a complaint. 'Major Crimes has done NO investigating and has not followed any of the leads our hired PI has offered,' Pfister said in an email this week to KIRO 7. The family created a GoFundMe account to help pay for a private investigator and cover other costs to search for Hoang after the sheriff's office called off their efforts. KIRO 7 reached out to the Washington State Attorney General's Office, which confirmed they did receive the family's formal complaint and an attorney has been assigned to review it.

21-year-old's disappearance ‘indescribably painful,' WA family says. Search ends
The search for a missing 21-year-old man with autism has ended 10 days after he vanished from his Washington home, deputies said. Jonathan Hoang was last seen at about 7:30 p.m. March 30 in Arlington, the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office said in a Facebook post. 'Each day he's been missing has been indescribably painful for our family. He is gentle, kind, funny, and so loved. Please help us find him,' his family wrote on a Facebook page dedicated to finding him. He was reported the day after he was last seen, deputies said, and it's believed he left the home with his iPad but not his phone or jacket. Search teams quickly spread out to find him using ground teams, police dogs, drones and helicopters, deputies said in an earlier post. They looked for him for more than 4,000 hours over the course of six days and couldn't find any trace of him, deputies said. His cellphone and computer were also analyzed but 'nothing of evidentiary value was found,' deputies said. Search efforts have since been called off. Deputies said search teams will do 'periodic checks in the area' and follow up on leads. There is no evidence of foul play or evidence he was taken against his will, deputies said. His family said they do not know what Hoang was wearing when he disappeared. Deputies said he is verbal, can have conversations with people and knows the names of his immediate family. But they say he struggles to problem-solve and does not have the skills to look for help. 'If lost, he likely doesn't know to put himself in a visible space for searchers. He will not be able to relay his own address or phone numbers,' deputies said. Hoang takes a bus to school and to return home, but he does not use public transportation, his father commented on Facebook.
