High school softball SoDak 16 set for Tuesday
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — The regular season is complete for high school softball across the three classes in South Dakota. That means the stage is set for the SoDak 16, which is scheduled to played on Tuesday. Below are the matchups for the three classes. CLASS 'AA' CLASS 'A' CLASS 'B' The SoDak 16 winners qualify for the state championship tournaments, which are slated for June 5-7. Stay tuned to KELOLAND on-air and online for highlights and results. Jefferson closes regular season with win over Brookings
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — The fifth-ranked Jefferson softball team closed out the regular season with a 7-3 victory over Brookings Thursday evening at Sherman Park. The Cavaliers struck first with a sac fly in the bottom of the first. After the Bobcats took the lead with two in the top of the second, the Cavs retook the lead with a pair of their own in the bottom of the frame. They added one more in the fourth and three in the fifth. The SoDak 16 is scheduled for Tuesday, May 27, where the eight spots at the state tournament will be determined. Brandon Valley, Harrisburg, Jefferson win in SoDak 16
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Eight teams punched their ticket to the class 'AA' boys state tournament, including Brandon Valley, Harrisburg and Jefferson. The Lynx claimed a 53-42 win over Pierre in the SoDak 16. Harrisburg showed off their offense in a victory, as they earned a 70-59 win over Rapid City Stevens. Dakota Valley, Sioux Valley advance to class ‘A' state
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Eight teams punched their ticket to the class 'A' state tournament on Thursday, including Dakota Valley and Sioux Valley. The Panthers earned the two-seed in the SoDak 16, but they needed every second Thursday to hold off West Central. Dakota Valley claimed a 53-52 win. Sioux Valley played in the 7 vs. 10 matchup against Miller. The Cossacks grabbed an early lead and they slowly added on as they claimed a 60-34 win. Dakota Valley defeats Vermillion in ranked region contest
NORTH SIOUX CITY, S.D. (KELO) — The Dakota Valley girls claimed a 62-54 win over Vermillion in the second round of the Region 4A playoffs. The Panthers will now play in the SoDak 16. Dakota Valley jumped out to a 15-9 lead after one quarter. Vermillion closed the gap and tied the game at 22. That's when Dakota Valley went on a big run. They used a 15-4 run to close the half and lead 37-26 at halftime. Vermillion closed the gap to four in the fourth quarter twice, but both times the Panthers answered and it was freshman Ella Otten. She scored nine points in the fourth quarter. That surge led to a run for Dakota Valley. They used a 13-2 run to pull away and win 62-54.
