'He must make a good impression' – Kaizer Chiefs legend on Silva

Kaizer Chiefs legend Tsepo Masilela has advised new signing Flavio Silva to quickly adapt to his new environment before the season begins. The 29-year-old Portuguese forward has yet to impress during the four pre-season matches that Amakhosi played in the Netherlands. In his debut match, Silva appeared lacklustre and struggled with ball control at times, leaving some fans concerned about the team's need for a quality striker. Speaking to Peter du Toit on Soccer Beat , Masilela urged Kaizer Chiefs fans not to be overly harsh on Silva, as he has only recently joined the club. 'Pre-season is very important Peter, for everyone involved, you know, not just the strikers. If you want to have a solid season individually, you need to work hard during the pre-season camp. That's where you load the fuel to take you all the way…so it's very important,' he said. 'I know he is new, we don't want to be hard on the guy because he just joined the team and it's a new environment, new teammates, everything is new to him. it's important to make that first impression, especially to the fans. To give everyone confidence, then when we come back home, we have someone we can count on,' said the former Bafana Bafana defender. Masilela said Silva needs to adapt quickly or else Kaizer Chiefs fans might start becoming impatient. 'If you don't start well in pre-season, it already gives a negative impact on the people. Once you play one bad game in the league, they say, 'but what did you expect, we've seen enough during pre-season, this guy is not going to help us'. You need to get result for the confidence of the team,' he said. Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 0211. Will he be complemented by Sirino and Cele?: Ex-Kaizer Chiefs coach on new signing

Former Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Farouk Khan feels Amakhosi got it right by signing Siphesihle Ndlovu. The Soweto giants signed the talented midfielder for R5 million from SuperSport United, days before the club was sold. The 28-year-old, who was born in Pietermaritzburg, is now with his new teammates in the Netherlands for pre-season training. Khan, who worked as an assistant coach at Kaizer Chiefs in the early 2000s, warned that Ndlovu could face challenges during the season given how established other midfielders are in the team. 'Well, he's technically not bad, and when getting forward, his passing range is good. On the odd occasion, he can score a goal or two as well,' Khan told SoccerBeat . 'However, the challenge he will face is how he will be complemented by the other players, such as Gaston Sirino and Thabo Cele. Will they be able to achieve this in the shortest period of time? As you know, when you are constantly building teams from season to season, you will never have a situation where the team is stable enough. 'I think all great teams, firstly, have a very good leader in the midfield. I don't know his leadership qualities, and I haven't seen much of it because, at Orlando Pirates, he wasn't the leader. There were players much bigger than him,' Khan added. 'At SuperSport, he made his mark under Gavin Hunt. But again, I don't think he was the leader in that midfield. However, in saying that, it's just about the chemistry between the rest of the midfield and, obviously, the attackers and defenders that will guarantee that he has a successful season,' said the former Kaizer Chiefs coach. 'I spoke to Kaizer': Bafana star teases possible Chiefs move

Bafana Bafana winger Mihlali Mayambela has confirmed that talks between him and the Kaizer Chiefs sporting director, Kaizer Motaung Jr did occur. The 28-year-old is currently on the books of Aris Limassol in Cyprus. He played a big role in helping his club win their first ever league title in 2022/23 as well as the Cypriot Super Cup. Speaking on SoccerBeat , the Bafana Bafana star revealed that he a conversations with Kaizer Chiefs about a possible move. 'There was a conversation [about moving to Chiefs], you know the club is also moving in a different direction,' Mayambela said on SoccerBeat . 'You can see with the signings they've made now, they're busy trying to put out a strong team, but also I'm in a place where I don't need to move if there is no need to move. 'I'm playing every game, I have a big role to play in my team, and I'm respected here, but there's interest from Chiefs. There were talks between me and the sporting director. 'And he's doing his job, you can see that he's trying to build a squad that can compete and bring the glory days. So I don't know when it will happen, will it happen? I can say yes more than a no. But I don't know when because it doesn't only depend on me,' Mayambela said. Despite Mayambela, Kaizer Chiefs are also linked to several Bafana Bafana players, namely Thabo Moloisane, Elias Mokwana and Percy Tau. The Soweto giants have already signed six players so far during pre-season. Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 0211. 'Don't send our boy to a war zone' – Moeneeb Josephs slams Rele Mofokeng's possible Israel move

Photo: BackpagePix Image: BackpagePix Former Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Moeneeb Josephs has urged Relebohile Mofokeng not to entertain any offers from Israeli clubs as the demand for the youngster grows. Two weeks ago, it was reported that Israeli clubs Maccabi Tel Aviv and Maccabi Haifa had reached out to Orlando Pirates with the view of making an offer for the 20-year-old sensation. As a result, they were reportedly given a price of around R31 million to get the deal done. But Josephs, who spent five years at Pirates and also played at the 2010 World Cup in the country, has voiced his concerns about Mofokeng moving to Israel. 'We want the best for our players, and if they move on, they must move on to something better,' Josephs, currently the goalkeeper coach of the Kenya national team, said on the SoccerBeat podcast. He went on to pour cold water on the claim that the move would be good for Mofokeng as the club plays in Europe. 'Don't tell me about the Champions League, these teams that are chasing him are Maccabi Haifa and Tel Aviv, those are the whipping boys of the Champions League,' he continued. 'Rele (Mofokeng) is a star, and stars go to the big leagues. These agents mustn't be greedy because of money and say, 'he is going overseas.' No, there's a difference overseas. 'Don't tell me about Champions League football, (we want) Champions League football where we are going to see our boy shine. 'We want to see our boy in the Bundesligas of the world. We want (him) to play those teams, not knowing that tonight Rele is playing against Real Madrid and they are going to get a hiding,' he said. 'It's difficult to come to a game if you are going to go to those two teams in Israel. You are dodging bombs on your way there. How are you going to focus on the game? It's hard. 'So, send our boy to a safe zone. Send our boy to a place where he can grow. 'That's where we want him to go, and if he doesn't go, we will hold on to him here with no problem, and he is still very young.' Orlando Pirates news: Mofokeng transfer latest and red flag signing

Orlando Pirates have reportedly signed Richards Bay striker Yanela Mbuthuma, who converted five goals in the league last season. The place of origin and scoring tally have raised concerns for ex-Buccaneer Moeneeb Josephs over the club's signing of the 23-year-old. 'Why are we looking for players from clubs that are not above the top eight [small teams]? No offence to the player that we have signed,' Josephs told SoccerBeat . 'Look at how many goals he scored last season: he scored six goals in 27 games. However, no offence to him, but how many games did he start? So, that's like one goal every six games, pardon me if my math is off.' 'But my mind is telling me that we should be looking at the big boys [from big clubs]. We should look inside the top eight teams because outside of the top eight, there's nothing.' Meanwhile, the arrival of Abdeslam Ouaddou has Orlando Pirates fans wondering whether Monnapule Saleng will be willing to remain at the club. The 27-year-old is heavily linked with an offseason move, albeit no clubs currently showing interest. The same can't be said for Relebohile Mofokeng, who has several clubs interested including Al Ahly, and most recently, MLS side FC Cincinnati. Whether the 20-year-old wants to leave is another question, but if his father's comments are anything to go by, it seems a winter exit is likely. 'My biggest wish is to see Rele overseas in 2025/2026. I'm praying every day. I don't want to see him in the Betway Premiership again this season. I know God will answer my prayers.' '[Whether it's in] Spain, England, Netherlands, France, Denmark, Switzerland — Rele can play. I believe that with all my heart. Take him to Barcelona? He can play. PSG? He can play. Any country. I'll be happy — but not Saudi Arabia,' he added. 'Not yet. He's still young. He needs to compete in UEFA competitions. If he goes to Saudi now, he won't experience that. Yes, he'd be rich — but happiness is more important. You can have all the money in the world, but if you're not happy, it's worthless.'
