GP-Smash resolves 310 citizen plaints in 3 months
Since its launch on March 1 this year, the state police's initiative Gujarat Police - Social Media Monitoring, Awareness and Systematic Handling (GP-Smash) has successfully resolved 310 of the 335 citizen grievances.
The primary goal of the initiative is to listen to citizens' concerns, complaints and suggestions on social media, quickly relay them to the appropriate officer, and resolve them promptly.
A dedicated team of police responds within minutes to posts tagged to Gujarat Police's X handle @GujaratPolice, an official statement said on Thursday. For issues like law and order, traffic problems, prohibition, cyber fraud, bribery or misconduct by govt officials, instructions are given to the relevant range, district or unit head to investigate and take appropriate action. These officials will also also provide updates on the action taken within a time frame, the statement said.
Citing an instance, the statement said that a vigilant citizen's post led to the arrest of an intoxicated person on a moving train before it reached Surat from Bharuch.
