Girl selected for KYEXS programme felicitated
Singarayakonda: Social Welfare Minister Dr Dola Sree Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy, along with the additional secretary of the Andhra Pradesh Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutes Society, Sunil Raj Kumar, and joint secretary Sanjiv Rao, visited the Social Welfare Residential School in Singarayakonda to felicitate a student selected for a prestigious educational programme in the United States. Surapogu Delishia, a senior BiPC student at the residential school, has been selected to participate in the Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (KYEXS) Programme in the United States. The Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study Programme is a US State Department initiative that brings high school students from around the world to live with American host families and attend American high schools for one academic year. During the ceremony, Minister Veeranjaneya Swamy presented Delishia with a financial assistance cheque of Rs 100000 to support her educational journey abroad. Students should strive for higher goals and broader horizons in life, said the minister in his address to the gathered students. He emphasised the importance of cultivating ambition, perseverance, and dedication in pursuing academic excellence. The student and her parents expressed their gratitude for the minister's support, describing the gesture as providing both moral encouragement and crucial financial assistance for the programme. Officials noted that such international exposure programmes are essential for broadening students' perspectives and preparing them for future leadership roles. The visit concluded with the minister encouraging all students at the institution to pursue similar opportunities for internationaleducation and cultural exchange.

Narrow escape for Social Welfare Minister as car wheel comes off
Minister for Social Welfare Adluri Laxman Kumar had a narrow escape after one of the wheels of the car in which he was travelling came off at Maruthinagar village in Metpalli mandal of Jagtial district on Saturday evening. Sources said that the incident occurred when the minister's car was on its way to Korutla town. The minister later reached Korutla in another car. He participated in a felicitation ceremony organised to honour him on his maiden visit to the town after being inducted into the State Cabinet. Earlier in the day, the minister visited the Social Welfare Residential School at Kalluru road and handed over the sanction letters to 191 beneficiaries of the Indiramma Housing Scheme at a meeting held in Buggaram mandal headquarters town.

Miss World 2025 contestants visit Victoria Memorial home in Hyderabad, inspire students
The 108 contestants participating in the Miss World 2025 visited the Victoria Memorial Home in Saroor Nagar, Hyderabad on Thursday morning, bringing with them messages of hope, empowerment, and inspiration for the underprivileged students residing there. The contestants interacted with the children of the government-run Social Welfare Residential School and participated in cultural performances, even joining the students in dance and celebration. The contestants also inaugurated a newly established computer lab aimed at enhancing digital learning for the students. They also presented essential gifts and daily-use items to the children, adding a personal and compassionate touch to their engagement. The Victoria Memorial Home, founded in 1903 by the sixth Nizam of Hyderabad, Mir Mahbub Ali Khan Bahadur, was originally established as an orphanage in memory of Queen Victoria following her death in 1901. A royal firman issued in 1904 led to its inauguration as the Victoria Memorial Orphanage on February 14, 1905. In 1953, during a visit by Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, the institution's name was changed from 'orphanage' to 'home' to reflect a more humane and inclusive outlook.
