We've all heard the saying "beauty is pain," and unfortunately, that sentiment has been way too normalized (especially for women). Way too often, putting yourself through discomfort or injury is praised for the sake of beauty standards — especially in Hollywood. Here are 34 times celebrities took "beauty is pain" way too seriously: In 2025, Suki Waterhouse tweeted, "'suki you never tweet anymore' have you ever considered I wore pants so tight 6 months ago it caused a hernia & I've been too scared to tell you." She also shared a picture of herself wearing said pants onstage (you can see it here). Sofía Vergara's red carpet looks often cause her to bleed. In 2016, she told Net-A-Porter, "My body has changed with age. People will often say that I wear the same thing on the red carpet, but I know my body: it's very voluptuous, and I've got the boobs of a stripper. Literally not a day goes by where I don't open my phone to yet another celebrity on a yacht without me, and Sofía Vergara is the latest in an absolute parade of famous people lounging in Europe this summer. The Modern Family alum posted a video of herself sunbathing topless in a thong while in Ibiza, which she captioned "Happy internacional bikini day from Ibiza😂😂😂." Unclear where her bikini is from, but it appears to be a white two piece. Though the top is obviously off, to tell! If you're wondering who Sofía is with on this fabulous vacation, unclear—though she appears to have spent time with Kendall Jenner, Nina Dobrev, and Ricky Martin—not to mention a bunch of other celebrities—for the launch of a new luxury ship called Luminara. Attending a presentation for the brand at the city's Four Seasons Hotel, Vergara looked like the essence of summer in an airy white chiffon midi dress featuring a melange of burnt-orange and red flowers. The floral patterned dress featured a plunging strapless neckline adorned with little ruffles, while a knotted scarf-like detail accented the waist above the design's flared skirt.
