EP Manufacturing kicks off local assembly of SoloEra electric motorcycles
KUALA LUMPUR: EP Manufacturing Bhd's (EPMB) unit EP Blueshark Sdn Bhd, together with Blueshark Malaysia Sdn Bhd, has begun local assembly of the SoloEra Solo 1C electric motorcycle at EPMB's advanced facility in Glenmarie, Shah Alam. The plant has an initial capacity of 12,000 units a year, with assembly of the higher-performance Solo 2 and Solo 3 models also underway. EPMB said the expansion widens consumer choice while positioning Malaysia as a strategic hub for two-wheeled electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing in Asean and beyond. The company hosted a site visit for key stakeholders, including the Investment, Trade and Industry Ministry (Miti), the Malaysia Automotive Robotics & IoT Institute (MARii), Malaysian Industrial Development Finance Bhd, Petronas Dagangan Bhd and Blueshark. "EPMB continues to make strides towards the forefront of energy-efficient vehicle production and advancing the next generation of mobility solutions in Malaysia and beyond," executive director Aidan Hamidon said in a statement. He added that the Solo 1C has attracted strong interest, with over 6,000 registrations recorded within a month of its pre-launch promotion in July. Priced from as low as RM599, the Solo 1C is among the most affordable electric motorcycles in the market. Its success was driven by an exclusive collaboration with Petronas' Mesra Rewards and Setel, supported by MARii's MARiiCas EV rebate initiative to accelerate nationwide adoption. EPMB said the SoloEra series is designed to ease the shift from internal combustion engine motorcycles to electric, aligning with the government's target of achieving 20 per cent electrified vehicles by 2030.

Separately, Bluesharh CEO Jeff Chong said: 'This is a proud moment for Blueshark and our partners as we turn our vision for affordable, sustainable mobility into reality.' 'Together with our strategic partners EPMB and Petronas Dagangan Bhd , we are committed to expanding Malaysia's electromobility ecosystem while establishing the country as a manufacturing hub for Asean and beyond." The Solo 1C drew over 6,000 registrations of interest within a month of its July pre-launch promotion, which priced the model from RM599, making it one of the most affordable electric motorcycles in the market.
