Iowa football's Kade Pieper repeats as Solon Beef Days Hay Bale Toss winner
For the fourth year in a row, an Iowa offensive lineman has won the Solon Beef Days Hay Bale Toss.
The yearly event takes place in Solon, Iowa, only about 20 minutes north of Iowa City. The Hay Bale Toss has become a friendly competition for the offensive lineman at Iowa to see who can toss a bale of hay the highest. Kade Pieper, a 6-foot 4 290-pound sophomore, won the event last year and returned to Solon to try and defend his crown.
And defend it he did.
Pieper repeated as the winner of the Solon Beef Days Hay Bale Toss after tossing a bale of hay an astounding 13 feet into the year. If you don't believe me, Iowa football got the video proof and posted it to X on Friday.
Pieper is the second Hawkeye this decade to repeat as the winner of this competition. His current teammate Gennings Dunker won the event in both 2022 and 2023. Other previous Hawkeyes to win the competition include Matt Kroul, Drew Ott and Tristan Wirfs. It's a fun way for the team to bond and have a friendly competition before the season kicks off.
Pieper and Dunker will be anchors of an Iowa offensive line needing to protect a new quarterback. If the Hay Bale Toss competition is any indication, opposing defensive lines are going to have a lot of trouble trying to move this Hawkeye offensive line.
