‘Heartbroken, disgusted and sad': Family speaks out after Sebastian's Playground in Solon vandalized again
SOLON (WJW) — What was meant to be a joyful space for families has recently become the target of repeated vandalism in Solon.
'I was heartbroken, disgusted and sad,' said Kelly Baylog of Solon, describing how she felt after discovering the damage at Sebastian's Playground in Solon Community Park.

The playground, which opened this past spring, was built in memory of Kelly's son, Sebastian Botirius, who passed away in 2022 at just 4 years old.
Sebastian had battled a rare genetic disorder known as LRBA Deficiency, and his final wish was a simple one — to go to a playground.
'Not just because the playground is built in honor of Sebastian,' Kelly continued, 'but because my husband and I, along with the city, have worked so hard to build a playground for families to play on.'
City officials have confirmed multiple acts of vandalism in recent weeks, including graffiti on the musical instruments and damage to playground equipment and fencing.
'We get a lot of feedback from families saying they love that it's fenced in,' Kelly said. 'But right now, there are no gates because of the vandalism.'
The Solon Police Department says they are aware of the vandalism and have had the park listed as an area of special attention for patrol since construction began.
They are now urging residents and park visitors to stay vigilant and to report any suspicious activity or damage they see.

'It's used by so many people in the community and surrounding communities,' Kelly added. 'I'd like to see it continue to be enjoyed by kids of all ages.'
