Agra: In an initiative aimed at technologically empowering its personnel and enabling "effective use of artificial intelligence (AI) in day-to-day policing and curbing crime", Agra police on Wednesday held a special training session on prompt engineering based on AI. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The session focussed on application of Large Language Models (LLMs) such as ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity in policing activities, including FIR and report writing, understanding and interpreting BNS sections, giving direction in cybercrime investigations, creating awareness material for cybersecurity and public outreach, drafting documents and summaries for analysis and interpretation, among others. During the session, Agra police also showcased its in-house developed AI apps, including FAI, EBITA and AI RAGBOT for UP police circular, which have already been integrated into the system. Agra DCP (city) Sonam Kumar said policemen participated in hands-on activities, crafted their own prompts, and gained a better understanding of the capabilities of ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity AI. "Those who completed the 'prompt engineering' training were awarded the title of AI commandos and were also provided a one-month paid subscription to Perplexity AI, enabling them to perform traditional duties with greater speed, accuracy and efficiency using new technology," the DCP said. The personnel were also instructed not to share any sensitive or confidential departmental information on AI models. "This training marks a significant step toward building a tech-savvy police force in Agra, and more such technical programmes will be organised in future," said Kumar. Agra police commissioner Deepak Kumar said, "In modern policing, the use of technology and AI is no longer optional — it has become a necessity. 'Operation Codebreak': Agra Police launches crackdown on cybercrime; 4 arrested
AGRA: Four people have been arrested and cases filed against 910 others across at least three police stations in Agra under Operation Codebreak—a fresh initiative by the city police to tackle the growing threat of cybercrime. Police said Operation Codebreak is aimed at identifying, disrupting, and dismantling cybercriminal networks involved in OTP frauds, UPI scams, phishing attacks, and mule account operations. The crackdown is being driven by advanced analytics and digital investigation tools through the Pratibimb Portal, which enables deep IP tracing, digital footprint mapping, and account link analysis. These capabilities have helped law enforcement register FIRs under the Information Technology Act and BNS across multiple locations. The Pratibimb Portal, developed by the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) under the Ministry of Home Affairs, is a GIS-based (Geographic Information System) platform that monitors cybercriminal activities and their infrastructure across the country. It identifies cybercrime hotspots and offers real-time intelligence to help agencies investigate and dismantle criminal networks. Key elements of the drive include online Cyber JanSunwai at police stations using Kanban methodology, directly connecting complainants to the Cyber Cell for faster account freezing and fraud resolution, particularly in cases of digital arrests and financial scams. Police are also working closely with banks, telecom firms and inter-agency cyber units for swift preventive action and fund recovery. Multiple arrests have already been made in identified high-risk zones. DCP City (Agra) Sonam Kumar said, 'Cybercrime is an evolving threat. Our aim through Operation Codebreak is to stay one step ahead with technology-led policing and a citizen-centric response.'

Agra police develop state's first AI platform to provide UP police documents to public
Agra: In a bid to strengthen law and order management and ensure timely dissemination of information, the Agra police have developed an artificial intelligence (AI)-based software to promptly deliver UP police documents and circulars to citizens, making it the first such platform of its kind in the state. According to a statement by Agra police, the software, named ECOP, is based on retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) technology and was developed in collaboration with IIT Kanpur. The team included – DCP (city) Sonam Kumar, Mayank Pathak (who served as ASP U/T in Agra) and IIT Kanpur students Udbhav Agarwal, Trijal Srivastava, Vedant Neekhra (all from electrical engineering department) and Gaurav Kumar Rampuria from statistics and data science department. E xplaining the functioning of the new system, DCP Kumar said, "ECOP, which stands for Efficiency Cell for Optimising Policing, operates much like AI tools such as ChatGPT and Deepseek. It can access and analyse extensive data and has been trained specifically on publicly available documents of the UP police. These documents were digitised using optical character recognition (OCR) and used to train the AI model. " He added, "When users pose questions, the AI fetches precise information from relevant UP police circulars and documents, enabling citizens to access verified guidelines and instructions. Besides benefiting the public, the software will also assist police personnel with queries related to procedures, such as handling criminal cases in police stations." Commending the initiative, Agra police commissioner Deepak Kumar said, "Such efforts aim to ensure a developed India through smart policing."
