Nebraska in strong position to land four-star defensive lineman

A class of 2026 four-star defensive tackle Valdin Sone has placed Nebraska in his top eight schools. This was reported by Tim Verghese on Wednesday (subscription required). Sone announced his update last night. Verghese reports that Florida, Oklahoma, and Nebraska are the three schools that are reportedly the favorites in his recruitment. The Huskers first offered Sone on January 16, and since then, he has received several offers, including from Big Ten schools Penn State and USC. Advertisement Sone has seen his profile grow over the past couple of months. He participated in the Navy All-American Bowl, recording a quarterback pressure in the game. This is certainly a recruit to watch for the Huskers. Defensive line coach Terry Bradden could have a large impact on this recruitment. The defensive line position certainly has young talent waiting in the wings, and building depth at the position will be important for the future. Advertisement If the international prospect does commit to Texas, he would join five-star quarterback Dia Bell, four-star athlete Jermaine Bishop Jr., four-star receiver Chris Stewart, four-star offensive tackle Max Wright and four-star cornerback Hayward Howard Jr. Texas has not visited with Sone yet, but the prospect has been to Oklahoma, Florida, Nebraska, LSU, Auburn, the UCF Knights, South Carolina, Georgia, the Alabama Crimson Tide and Virginia Cavaliers. The Longhorns have a good eye for talent. On3 Sports recently revealed that 75% of Texas' commits from the 2026 class are blue-chips. A blue-chip prospect is a recruit who is a four-star or higher. Texas understands the importance of having quality across both lines of scrimmage. The Longhorns were named a finalist for four-star offensive tackle Samuel Roseborough.
