Five years jail to women in liquor smuggling case
Buxar: Special judge of Buxar excise court-II, Sone Lal Rajak, on Wednesday sentenced a woman to five years imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh in connection with a liquor smuggling case. Special public prosecutor, Awadhesh Kumar Rai, said the incident dates back to Jan 22, 2020. During raid at the residence of Yogendra Singh alias Yogi at Chanwath village under Navanagar police station area, liquor was found. While Yogi escaped his wife was arrested. One sentenced to five-year RI in liquor smuggling case
Buxar: Buxar special excise court-II on Monday sentenced one Navdev Soni (20) to five years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh for his involvement in liquor smuggling. In the event of non-payment of the fine, he will serve an additional six months of simple imprisonment. The case dates back to Nov 10, 2023, when officials from the excise department grew suspicious of a vehicle at the Veer Kunwar Singh Setu checkpost, which links Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. When signalled to stop, the driver attempted to flee but was swiftly intercepted by home guard. A search of the vehicle uncovered a huge consignment of illegal foreign liquor. The vehicle, registered in UP, was also impounded. The accused, Navdev Soni, a resident of Varanasi, confessed to his involvement in liquor smuggling. Following a trial that lasted nearly 19 months, special judge Sone Lal Rajak found Soni guilty. Special public prosecutor Awadhesh Kumar Rai and additional special public prosecutor Ravindra Kumar Sinha argued in favour of conviction.

Man gets 5-yr RI in liquor case
Buxar: Special judge of excise court II, Sone Lal Rajak, on Friday sentenced Raja Ram Yadav to five years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on him in a case related to illegal liquor smuggling. Special public prosecutor Awadhesh Kumar Rai said, "On Sept 21, 2019, Simri police received a tip-off about illegal liquor sales in Kazipur village. Acting on this information, a police team conducted a raid during which Raja Ram Yadav was found selling liquor from a hut near his residence." On spotting the police, Yadav fled. A subsequent search of the premises led to the recovery of 25 bottles of 180ml IMFL. An FIR was lodged at Simri police station and following the filing of a chargesheet, the case proceeded to trial. During the hearing, the prosecution presented substantial evidence and witness testimony. Based on the material presented, the court found Raja Ram Yadav guilty. Given the gravity of the offence, the court awarded a five-year prison sentence along with a financial penalty. Two get 5-yr RI in liquor case
Buxar: The court of special judge, excise court II, Sone Lal Rajak, on Wednesday sentenced two men to five years of rigorous imprisonment in connection with an illegal liquor smuggling case. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on each convict after finding them guilty based on witness testimonies and evidence presented. According to special public prosecutor Awadhesh Kumar Rai, additional public prosecutor Ravindra Kumar Sinha and advocate Shyama Shri Chandra, the incident dates back to March 13, 2022, when Brahmapur police received a tip-off about two youths smuggling liquor on a motorcycle. During a vehicle check near Udhura Ghat, police intercepted the motorcycle and recovered 25 litres of Indian-made foreign liquor. The accused, Mantu Yadav, a resident of Ojpurwa, and Ankit Yadav, a resident of Rukunpura under Bansdih police station in Ballia district of Uttar Pradesh, were arrested on the spot. An FIR was registered at Brahmapur police station. After submission of the chargesheet and subsequent trial, judge Sone Lal Rajak found the two accused guilty and pronounced the sentence.
