STAR TREK: STRANGE NEW WORLDS Actor Anson Mount Breaks Silence on the Show's Final Season Announcement — GeekTyrant

It was announced this week that Paramount+ has given Star Trek: Strange New Worlds a renewal for a fifth and final season. Ahead of the show's much-anticipated Season 3 premiere, the streamer officially confirmed that Strange New Worlds will conclude with a six-episode fifth season. Production on that final voyage is slated to begin later this year. Star of the series Anson Mount, who plays Captain Pike on the show, has spoken out on Instagram about the news with a photo of him in costume overlaid with the announcement and the words, 'I could not be more grateful.' In the body of the post, he told fans: 'I grew up watching Bill Shatner strut his stuff across the bridge and sit in a chair that I could not fathom would one day be mine to occupy. It has been a dream fulfilled. Thank you to Paramount, to Akiva, Alex and Henry who all believed in me, to Sonequa for lighting the way, and to all of you for your faith and support. But stick around. We still have many more stories to tell before we hang up these phasers.' There are still three full seasons left to watch, including Season 3, which kicks off with a two-episode drop on Thursday, July 17, followed by weekly episodes through September 11. Season 4 is currently in production, so there's still plenty of star-hopping and Gorn-dodging ahead.

Generate Key Takeaways Donnie Wahlberg finally has a co-star for his Blue Bloods spinoff, Boston Blue. Sonequa Martin-Green was cast as detective Lena Peters, starring opposite Wahlberg's continuing character, Danny Reagan, per Variety. The news was announced at a CBS press conference in Los Angeles on May 7 where they announced their fall 2025-2026 TV schedule. Martin-Green's character is the eldest daughter of a prominent law enforcement family in the city of Boston. She will team up with Wahlberg's character after his move from New York City. Both actors were in attendance at the press briefing. 'We love the Reagans. We have all loved the Reagans for so long,' Martin-Green said about joining the highly anticipated series. 'And I feel that we'll love the Peters too. I'm super excited for this partnership, and to be back in a CBS family — and in this family, your family. It means a lot, and I'm grateful for it. I think we're going to have a good time.' Sonequa Martin-Green attends The Creative Coalition Right To Bear Arts Gala dinner at The Madison Hotel on April 25, 2025 in Washington, was previously a cast member on Star Trek: Discovery as Michael Burnham for Paramount+. Wahlberg sounded excited for Boston Blue and hinted that there are more stories left to tell about the Reagan family. Hint: expect some Blue Bloods cast cameos. "Danny's story will continue the Reagan family. You can't have Danny without Reagans — there'll be connective tissue," he divulged. "But we're also going to get to discover a new family and carry on the tradition of telling their stories.' The 55-year-old actor dropped into the comments on a March 25 Instagram post announcing Boston Blue as a part of CBS' fall schedule. His followers were clamoring to know about the cast. One fan asked, "Tell me Jamie is coming with you," in reference to the Reagan family's youngest son, Jamie, played by Will Estes. Wahlberg replied with a red-heart emoji, "He'd better come visit his big brother." Danny's blossoming romance with Detective Maria Baez, played by Marisa Ramirez, was a big part of the Blue Bloods series finale, but Wahlberg seemed to indicate there is another chapter with her. "Hope we see Baez on this new journey," another fan commented on his Instagram post. Wahlberg remained mum on the topic, only dropping a winking emoji. Blue Bloods spinoff casts star from The Walking Dead alongside Donnie Wahlberg

Donnie Wahlberg's Blue Bloods spinoff Boston Blue has cast Sonequa Martin-Green. The 40-year-old former Walking Dead actress will play Lena Peters, a detective whose family has a law enforcement background. In the show Peters is partnered with Danny Reagan, 55-year-old Wahlberg's reprised Blue Bloods role, according to a Variety report. Both Wahlberg and Martin-Green appeared at a CBS press briefing in Los Angeles on Wednesday to announce the update. Lena reportedly said about the show's main characters, 'We love the Reagans. We have all loved the Reagans for so long. And I feel that we'll love the Peters too.' She added, 'I'm super excited for this partnership, and to be back in a CBS family — and in this family, your family. It means a lot, and I'm grateful for it. I think we're going to have a good time.' Donnie, an executive producer on the forthcoming series, described Sonequa as 'not the first choice — the only choice.' Per Variety, he stated, 'One thing about Blue Bloods and how beloved it was is because there are so many law enforcement families in this country. There's not just the Reagans. They're in every state, every city, every town, everywhere, and there are other families around that have stories to tell too.' Turning to the novel series, he noted, 'Danny's story will continue the Reagan family. You can't have Danny without Reagans — there'll be connective tissue. But we're also going to get to discover a new family and and carry on the tradition of telling their stories.' The offshoot show was confirmed by CBS in February, along with the update that the story would move from New York City to Boston. Blue Bloods debuted in 2010, following a family of New York City cops led by patriarch Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck). In addition to Danny, family also included Frank's son Jamie (Will Estes) and daughter Erin (Bridget Moynihan). The series, which ran for 14 seasons spanning 293 episodes, came to a close with the finale in December 2024. Donnie is said to be at odds with ex co-star Tom over the spinoff. RadarOnline reported earlier this year that he was furious to learn about Donnie's new leading role, with a source calling his moving forward with the show a 'huge betrayal' and 'the end' of their friendship. Selleck, 80, reportedly fought to stop Blue Bloods from ending. 'This is a HUGE betrayal,' the insider dished to the outlet. 'The Reagans never left New York. Now Danny's just up and moving to Boston? Selleck is furious. It's like throwing the rest of the cast away, including the star.' It was added, 'Tom considered himself this father figure to Donnie and helped him with his acting skills, and now he's found out everything going on behind his back. It's a huge burn. He feels a sense of betrayal and is furious over the news.' The site also claimed Wahlberg could have stopped the Boston Blue from happening, but was more enticed by money than loyalty.
