'Jungkook finally got it': BTS ARMY celebrates after ASEA 2025 adds Song of the Year as Daesang, making Seven group's first solo win

BTS ARMY is rejoicing once again—this time with a major update that marks another milestone in Jungkook's stellar career. Despite currently serving in the military, BTS' Golden Maknae continues to shine, and now, his 2024 win for Seven has officially been recognized as his first Daesang (Grand Prize). The 2025 Asia Star Entertainer Awards (ASEA) confirmed that the Song of the Year category is now officially considered a Daesang, making Jungkook's 2024 victory with his hit solo debut single Seven (featuring Latto). With this, Jungkook becomes a Daesang-winning soloist. BTS ARMY Reaction When fans noticed the updated awards section on BTS' Jungkook's Wikipedia page, social media instantly lit up with overwhelming excitement. One fan exclaimed that Jungkook had won his first, well-deserved, and truly earned Daesang for Seven last year at the 2024 Asia Star Entertainer Awards. Another proudly wrote that it's time to celebrate their huge global pop star, while another declared that this adds the Daesang winner to Seven's already endless list of achievements. A fan expressed how proud BTS and Jungkook must feel, noting that Jungkook is now officially a Daesang-winning soloist, since the Asia Star Entertainer Awards has officially recognized Song of the Year as a Daesang. ARMY recalled that Seven won SOTY in 2024, making Jungkook the first BTS member to earn a Daesang for Song of the Year. Another ARMY shared heartfelt congratulations, celebrating Jungkook not just for his win but for being the first BTS member to achieve such a feat. ASEA 2024 For those unfamiliar, the inaugural Asia Star Entertainer Awards were held at K-Arena Yokohama in Japan in 2024. The event honored both promising new rookies and established artists making waves in the global music scene. At the time, Stray Kids won the Daesang for Album of the Year (5 Star) and were named Best Group. Meanwhile, BTS' Jungkook took home Song of the Year for Seven. FYI: TXT, aka Tomorrow X Together, also won Song of the Year awards in 2024. Jungkook's Military Service Currently, Jungkook is serving his mandatory military enlistment, which began on December 12, 2023. He is scheduled to be discharged on June 11, 2025, the same day as fellow BTS member Jimin. Even while serving, Jungkook's music, reputation, and global influence continue to thrive and earn recognition. ARMYs continue to celebrate Jungkook with every achievement, and this Daesang win, earned during his military service, is a proud and emotional moment for fans around the world. Congratulations to Jungkook for adding another prestigious milestone to his already legendary journey.

The 2025 MAMA Awards will be held in Hong Kong

Here's something to perk up K-pop fans on this dreary day: the MAMA Awards will take place in Hong Kong this year! Originally standing for the Mnet Asian Music Awards, this is one of South Korea's major music award ceremonies that occurs annually. Korean music acts du jour and thousands of their fans will be filling the Kai Tak Stadium from November 28 to 29. This marks the return of the MAMA Awards to our city after seven years – the ceremony was held in Hong Kong from 2012 to 2017, and the last time they were in town was in 2018, when the event was split into three parts and Hong Kong hosted one of them. Some of the award categories include Best Male and Female Artist, Best Male and Female Group, Best New Artist, Best Dance Performance, Best Rap Performance, Best Music Video, and more. The four grand prizes, known as daesang, are Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Fans' Choice of the Year (previously titled Worldwide Icon of the Year). Last year's ceremony saw Seventeen winning Artist of the Year and their EP Seventeenth Heaven winning Album of the Year, while the Song of the Year went to Aespa's Supernova, and BTS' Jimin took home the Fans' Choice of the Year. Some of the Korean artists likely to be in the running this year would be Got7, Zerobaseone, Ive, Onew, Kandis, Blackpink's Jisoo, Jennie, and Lisa, and more – they've all released new EPs or albums this year. BTS will also make their much-awaited comeback this year following their mandatory military service, with the last member Suga being discharged on June 21. Stay tuned for details and ticketing information as we learn more!

Joe Rogan celebrates daughter's birthday with ‘delicious' Sabrina Carpenter cake; netizens react: ‘This is scary'

'Is it real or cake?' — the viral question that's become a staple of Internet curiosity usually applies to shoes, furniture, or even household items. But things just got taken to a whole new level. This time, it wasn't just a cake shaped like an object, it was a full-blown hyper-realistic cake of pop star Sabrina Carpenter. UFC commentator and podcast giant Joe Rogan revealed the cake. In a move that surprised fans and followers alike, Rogan posted photos of the cake that looked strikingly like the Espresso singer. It wasn't a joke or a deepfake, it was an actual cake. For his daughter's birthday, Rogan commissioned the life-like confection from Sideserf Cake Studio, a bakery known for its mind-blowing creations. 'Shout out to @sideserfcakes for the incredible @sabrinacarpenter cake they made for my daughter's birthday. Incredible delicious art!' he wrote in the caption. And just like that, the Internet exploded. A post shared by Joe Rogan (@joerogan) As usual, reactions were mixed. Some were amazed by the attention to detail. Others, not so much. Comments ranging from admiration to confusion, and straight-up roasting, came in. One person said, 'This is easily one of the weirdest things Rogan has ever posted. I legitimately thought that was Hilary Clinton. It barely looks like Sabrina.' Another user wrote, 'Sabrina should get a Joe Rogan cake for her Dad's birthday.' A third person commented, 'Sabrina carpenter cake posted by joe rogan was not on my bingo card.' And then there were those who just found the whole thing… well, unsettling. 'Kinda cryptic,' one fan wrote. A few couldn't unsee the odd expression on the cake's face, especially the eyes, which drew some mockery. In 2024, Rogan surprised his followers by posting a clip of Carpenter's hit track Espresso on his social media. Given that Rogan rarely shares clips other than his podcast, the shoutout stood out. At the time, the song was dominating charts and conversations globally. The song not only topped the Billboard Global 200 and climbed to number three on the Billboard Hot 100, but it also earned Carpenter her first MTV VMA win, taking home the coveted Song of the Year award.

DJ Ntukza balances beats and lenses with Swidi Films

DJ Ntukza, whose real name is Ntutuko Mtshali, has been at the helm of the deep house scene for more than two decades. He started his career in the mainstream through Afro Fashion Lounge Vol 1 in 2009 alongside DJ Tira and the late Tumza. Speaking to TshisaLIVE, DJ Ntukza, who hails from Umlazi in KwaZulu-Natal, said he has a new life behind the lens in photography and videography. In addition to his DJ career, he is a member of new Durban media house Swidi Films, which opened its doors in 2024. "I was invited by my friend DJ Boonu to join the ship and help bring in fresh ideas," DJ Ntukza said. "It's been challenging yet exciting, breaking into a new field and learning from our team of professional photographers and videographers. "Swidi Films started strong. Our first major project was shooting the music video for Gucci by Mthandeni SK and Mawhoo, a song that later won Song of the Year on Ukhozi FM. We followed that with the music video for DJ Thukzin's emotional anthem Sohlala Sisonke, which has been making waves across the country." In 2017 DJ Ntukza stunned hip-hop fans when he played a deep-house set during US rap group Migos' concert at the Dome in Randburg. DJ Ntukza said his momentum hasn't slowed down. 'We're working on some big projects,' he said. 'One of the highlights was being invited to Swaziland to cover King Mswati III's 57th birthday celebration, a huge honour for our team. 'It's an exciting journey and I'm learning every day.'

WA talent to fight for chance in limelight with music awards

Songwriters across WA are fighting for their chance in the limelight with this year's Song of the Year competition. West Australian Music announced the 2025 nominees for its annual competition on Friday, with budding artists selected across 17 categories. More than 800 musicians from across WA submitted their songs, showcasing the talent of the state's songwriting scene. The competition is assessed by a distinguished panel of local and national industry professionals, and the winners will be announced in June. If you'd like to view this content, please adjust your . WAM CEO Owen Whittle said: 'This year's competition shows that there is something in the water in WA and that we continue to develop the most diverse and exciting music in the country.' WAM has opened a new category called 'A Song for Sophie' for this year's competition. Entrants in this category, who are under 25, are assessed for their lyrics' deep connection with human emotions. Misticia Campbell, 22, was nominated across two categories — including A Song for Sophie — for her song Lost Again. If you'd like to view this content, please adjust your . 'The song means a lot to me and delves into my personal struggle with what to do with my life, where I wanted to go, what people would think of me if I went after what I really want out of life and feeling lost and confused in all those emotions,' she said. 'Lost Again is my favourite song I've written so far, I feel it expresses my thoughts and feelings perfectly, the idea behind the song is to assimilate being lost on an island, far away and not knowing your own mind.' Ms Campbell's lyrics were intended to be cryptic but aimed to explore emotional depths beyond a regular conversation. Ella-Grace, Missy, Amberley Mayellen, and Liz Zard were also nominated for the A Song for Sophie category. The winner of this category will take home a cash prize and exclusive mentoring with Jordi Davieson of the renowned local band San Cisco. Dominating the nominee pool is first nations talent ICONYX, who has accrued a whopping three nominations, alongside much-loved acts Adrian Dzvuke and Joan & The Giants who have both received two nominations. The winners will be announced at the awards night on Wednesday 18 June. West Australian Music is a not-for-profit organisation and the peak body for contemporary music in WA.
