Official opening of Capucine II: 40 social and affordable housing units for semi-independent seniors in Val-Morin
VAL-MORIN, QC , July 10, 2025 /CNW/ - Today, the governments of Quebec and Canada , the Municipality of Val-Morin and Les Habitations La Capucine officially opened La Capucine Phase II, a building with 40 social and affordable housing units for semi-independent seniors in Val-Morin . This project required a total investment of over $18 .3 million. This project required a total investment of over $12.4 million. The event was attended by Sonia Bélanger, Quebec Minister Responsible for Seniors and Minister for Health, on behalf of France-Élaine Duranceau, Quebec Minister Responsible for Housing; Amélie Dionne, Member of the National Assembly for Rivière-du-Loup–Témiscouata and Vice-Chair of the Committee on Culture and Education; Ginette Caron, Mayor of L'Isle-Verte; and Daniel Gauthier, President of the Corporation Les amis des ainés de L'Isle-Verte. The Government of Quebec contributed more than $5.6 million through the Société d'habitation du Québec (SHQ) for construction of the building. Our police helicopter services, including search and rescue, are offered throughout Quebec thanks to our valuable partnership with the Ministère des Transports et de la Mobilité durable, particularly with the General Directorate of the SAG.
