Man charged with rape and sexual assault after two girls 'attacked' near station
Police received reports that a teenage girl had been raped and a second had been sexually assaulted at Digby and Sowton railway station in Devon - with a 19-year-old man charged and due in court on Monday A 19-year-old man has been charged with raping and sexually assaulting two teenage girls at a railway station late at night. Police responded to reports that a teenage girl had been raped and a second had been sexually assaulted at Digby and Sowton railway station in Devon on the evening of Friday, May 9. Devon and Cornwall Police have charged Sonny Boyes in connection with the two incidents. Boyes, from Exeter, has been charged with two counts of rape and three counts of assault by penetration relating to two victims and is due to appear at Exeter Magistrates' Court on Monday, May 12. Officers have now urged members of the public who were travelling through the station late on Friday evening to come forward and contact them. Detective Inspector Emma Lefort from Exeter CID said: "The victims continue to be supported by our specialist officers at this time. We continue to investigate the incidents and want to hear from anyone who was in the vicinity of Digby and Sowton railway station, or on a train passing through, between 8.45pm and 10pm on Friday 9 May. "If you do have any information to share, please contact us either via our website or 101, quoting 50250116456. "Alternatively, independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously online at or by calling freephone 0800 555 111." Devon and Cornwall Police said in a statement: "Detectives investigating reports of rape and sexual assault against two girls near Digby and Sowton railway station have charged a man. We were notified on the evening of Friday 9 May to reports that a teenage girl had been raped and a further report that another teenage girl had been sexually assaulted within the Digby and Sowton area of Exeter. "A detailed investigation was undertaken which led to charges being brought against Sonny Boyes who is aged 19 and from Exeter. He has been charged with two offences of rape and three offences of assault by penetration relating to two victims. He will appear at Exeter Magistrates' Court on Monday 12 May."
