Rahul Dev performs brother Mukul Dev's last rites in Delhi; Vindu Dara Singh holds back tears
Actor Mukul Dev, popularly known for his performance in Son of Sardar 2, died at the age of 54 on Friday night. Mukul's brother, actor Rahul Dev, was seen performing the last rites in Delhi and meeting friends and family who had gathered to pay their final respects. Several friends from the film industry and family members were seen paying tribute to the actor. Rahul was seen performing the final rites and greeting those offering condolences with folded hands. Posting a photo of his late brother on his Instagram Story, he wrote, "Our brother Mukul Dev passed away peacefully in New Delhi last night... He is survived by his daughter Sia Dev. Missed by siblings Rashmi Kaushal, Rahul Dev, and nephew Sidhant Dev. Please join us for the cremation at 5 PM." Several Bollywood celebrities also shared heartfelt posts mourning Mukul's loss. Manoj Bajpayee paid tribute to his late co-star on Instagram, "It's impossible to put into words what I'm feeling. Mukul was a brother in spirit, an artist whose warmth and passion were unmatched. Gone too soon, too young. Praying for strength and healing for his family and everyone grieving this loss. Miss you meri jaan... until we meet again. Om Shanti." Ajay Devgn, who worked with Mukul in Son of Sardar, wrote "Still trying to process it... Muku. It's all too soon and sudden. You had a way of making everything lighter, even on the heaviest days. Actor Mukul Dev passed away on Friday night at the age of 54. His Son of Sardaar costar Vindu Dara Singh, who penned a heartfelt note for the actor, and revealed that Mukul was battling loneliness. 'I don't think he was suffering from any disease, but he used to drink a lot and would consume gutkha. He had become overweight and was battling loneliness. He has a daughter, but she was not living with him. He was making his comeback with Son of Sardar 2, but the sad part is he won't be here to see it. Vindu Dara Singh confirmed the news and penned a heartfelt note on X, mourning the loss. In an interview with ETimes, Vindu also revealed that Mukul had been struggling with loneliness. Vijay Raaz acquitted in 2020 sexual harassment case due to lack of evidence, actor's lawyer says he lost work after allegations
Bollywood actor Vijay Raaz was acquitted on Thursday by a Maharashtra court in a sexual harassment case filed against him in 2020 by a female crew member during the shoot of Vidya Balan-starrer Sherni. The Gondia court held that the prosecution had "failed to present sufficient evidence" to prove the allegations beyond reasonable doubt. Court cites lack of evidence and lapses in investigation As per PTI, the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Mahendra Sorte dropped the charges under Sections 354-A (sexual harassment) and 354-D (stalking) of the Indian Penal Code, citing serious lapses in the investigation. The complaint had been filed at the Ramnagar police station in Gondia, alleging that Raaz harassed the woman between the night of October 25 and morning of October 29, 2020, at a hotel where the film's cast and crew were lodged. 'The evidence presented by the prosecution appears weak and insufficient,' the judge observed. Even the CCTV footage submitted by the prosecution 'did not clearly show the accused committing the alleged act.' The court noted that 'the oral evidence presented by the prosecution was not sufficient to convict the accused,' and therefore, Raaz was acquitted. The benefit of doubt, as per criminal law, went to the accused. Raaz arrested, granted bail the same day Raaz's lawyer Saveena Bedi Sachar welcomed the verdict, stating, 'He was shooting near Nagpur for Sherni when the case came up. Not only did he have to leave the shoot midway, but he also lost work thereafter.' She further added, 'Now that the court has declared him innocent, this should be an eye-opener for those who treat every accused as guilty from the moment allegations are made.'
