‘Sons of Iblis' strikes a chord in Dhofar, draws full houses
SALALAH: A standout performance of the satirical play 'Sons of Iblis' drew packed crowds at Al Murooj Theatre in Sahl Ittin as part of the Khareef Dhofar Season 2025, organised by the Municipality of Dhofar.
Presented for the first time during the khareef festivities, the play brought fresh theatrical energy and bold storytelling to the stage, using humour and symbolism to reflect on society's moral challenges. The Municipality's cultural calendar aims to showcase Dhofar as a vibrant hub for tourism and the arts, with theatre playing a central role in community engagement and awareness.
Actor Mohammed al Dosari, who played Al Insi (the Human), said he was moved by the audience's immediate connection with the narrative. 'The play explores the eternal struggle between good and evil; and we are thrilled that its message resonated so naturally with the crowd', he said.

Abdulaziz al Nassar, who portrayed Iblis (the Devil), described the story's powerful irony: 'Satan no longer needs to deceive people — they have begun to follow him willingly. That's the real danger'.
Audiences responded with repeated rounds of applause, affirming a growing appetite for meaningful theatre in Oman. Families, youth and visitors turned out in large numbers, adding to the festive spirit of the khareef.
Given the overwhelming reception, organisers confirmed that more performances of Sons of Iblis are planned during the season, reinforcing theatre's role as a compelling cultural force in Dhofar.
