Sophia Albarakbah exposes brutal online abuse
11 Aug - Enraged over the continuous harassment she received from netizens, Sophia Albarakbah finally revealed the reason why she decided to lodge a report to the police. Sharing several screenshots of sexual harassments and cyberbullying that she received over the course of the past week, the actress said that she has been receiving thousands of messages and comments, from harassment, slander, insult and even threats. "Some may think it's small but to me, these words cut deep. They hurt, they affect my emotions, and they damage my dignity as a woman and as a human being," she said. As for the screenshots, Sophia said that they were only a small part of it. "There are many more that are far worse. I'm not sharing to shame anyone, but to show the reality of what happens online. This is why I took action. Because silent doesn't change anything," she added. Sophia said that she decided to go to the police not to exact revenge but to protect her safety and dignity. 11 Aug - Bella Astillah broke her silence surrounding the controversy that sparked between her and Sophia Albarakbah, stating that she just wants to move forward. Sharing her thoughts on 9 August on Instagram, the singer, who posted a photo of her and Muar MP Syed Saddiq following their Hottest Couple Goal win at the Anugerah Melodi Terhangat, said that she is thankful to the organiser for the recognition and will think of it as an extraordinary experience. "After a week of reflection and listening to all sides, I choose to focus on the good things that came from that night and to continue moving forward. Anyway, it was your love and support that I consider the biggest gift of all," she added. Netizens have blasted TV3 and the team of Melodi, after the awards show intentionally arranged for Bella and Syed Saddiq to present the Hottest Female Celebrity award to Sophia, accusing them of using the history between the two women artistes for ratings. 5 Aug - Sophia Albarakbah recently stated that she didn't think Bella Astillah was making a snide remark when she announced her as the winner of the Selebriti Feminin Terhangat (Hottest Female Celebrity) category at the Anugerah Melodi Terhangat (AMT) that was held on 3 August. The actress, who spoke to the media after winning the title at the event, said that she is not at all affected by Bella's comment that "I know her, I know her very well" before announcing her name as the winner, and was more focused on the fact that she won the category. "I didn't feel slighted. We are in the same industry. I am more focused on processing this idea that I have won. I am still surprised by it," she said. On the other hand, Bella immediately departed after the event concluded, sparking speculations that there are still tensions between the two parties. The singer herself won Best Celebrity Couple Goals alongside Muar MP, Syed Saddiq. Sophia and Bella had a fall out back in 2023, after the latter revealed that Sophia was the third party in her marriage with Aliff Aziz.
