The group beat seven other teams with a score of 78 per cent, taking home RM5,000. Advertisement Second place went to Tanjung Keramat Putatan with 77.8 per cent and RM3,500, while Sri Mengkabong from Tuaran placed third with 76 per cent, winning RM2,500. Sri Samah from Kota Belud won the Best Costume Award, while Soro Derio from Putatan took the Most Promising Young Player Award. Five groups received consolation prizes of RM1,000 each, namely Sri Ketiau (Putatan), Denyut Tradisi from Kelab Betitik Kampung Unggun Jaya (Kota Kinabalu), Sri Samah, Soro Derio and Anak Kedidi Bedinakan (Papar). Betitik is the traditional music of the Bajau Sama community in Sabah, played mainly during events to announce upcoming occasions such as the malam berinai and wedding ceremonies. It is usually performed in the evening and not during mourning periods or times of hardship, using instruments such as the wan (drum), gong, bebandil and kulintang. Riuh Samah from Putatan wins Betitik competition.-Information Department photo TUARAN (Aug 10): The Riuh Samah group from Putatan emerged as the champion of the State-level Betitik Competition at the 2025 Sabah Bajau Sama Cultural Festival, held at the Sabah Bajausama Cultural Centre here on Saturday. The group defeated seven other teams with a score of 78%, taking home a cash prize of RM5,000. Second place was won by Group N.24 Tanjung Keramat from Putatan with a score of 77.8%, receiving RM3,500, while Sri Mengkabong from Tuaran secured third place with 76%, earning RM2,500. For the Best Costume Award, the Sri Samah group from Kota Belud was announced as the winner, while the Promising Young Player Award went to the Soro Derio group from Putatan. Five consolation prizes of RM1,000 each were awarded to Sri Ketiau (Putatan), Denyut Tradisi from the Betitik Club of Kampung Unggun Jaya (Kota Kinabalu), Sri Samah, Soro Derio, and Anak Kedidi Bedinakan (Papar).
