Body of missing Merritt man found after he was last seen in March 2023
The body of a man missing from the Merritt, B.C., area since 2023 has been found, according to his family. Miguel Mack was last seen on Feb. 27, 2023, by his family and was reported missing on March 3, 2023. On March 1, 2024, BC RCMP's Southeast District Major Crime Unit said they believed Mack was a victim of a homicide. In a social media post on Monday, Mack's family members said his body had been found. Calgarians asked for assistance in Sicamous, B.C., homicide investigation
RCMP in British Columbia are asking Calgarians for help as they investigate a homicide that occurred in the Shuswap last year. Article content Article content The investigation pertains to the murder of Matthew Monteith, who was shot Feb. 24, 2024, in the parking lot of the Best Western Hotel in Sicamous, B.C., just off the Trans-Canada Highway. Article content 'The initial investigation leads us to believe this was an isolated, targeted incident and there is no ongoing risk to the public,' an RCMP news release stated at the time. Article content Article content The British Columbia RCMP's Southeast District Major Crime Unit is leading the investigation, which until Saturday, had not revealed Monteith's identity as the victim, according to a report by the Sicamous Eagle Valley News. Article content Article content RCMP previously said a black Mercedes G-Wagon was seen fleeing the scene after Monteith's murder and was last known to be travelling westbound on the Trans-Canada Highway. But few details on the case have been released since. Article content On Thursday, officers executed a residential search warrant in the southeast Calgary community of Auburn Bay in relation to Monteith's murder, Mounties said. Calgarians with information about the case are asked to contact the B.C. Southeast District Major Crime Unit Information Line at 1-877-987-8477. Police investigate death of woman found inside West Kelowna mobile home as suspicious
West Kelowna RCMP are investigating the suspicious death of a 57-year-old woman. According to police, officers conducted a wellness check at a home in the Westview Village Mobile Home Park on Saturday. Upon entering, officers found the body of Cindy Walsh. 'Cindy stayed in the house a lot, didn't see much of her, her mate kind of came and went,' said one neighbour who Global News agreed to grant anonymity to for security reasons. 'It's shocking to the neighbourhood we definitely weren't expecting anything like that,' said neighbourhood resident, Melvin Minpenko. Fear is now spreading through the normally peaceful community. Story continues below advertisement 'I live alone. We don't know if we'll be safe or not, it's scary,' said another resident, Ineke Devries. Police have released few details surrounding Cindy Walsh's death, including whether a suspect has been identified or taken into custody. Officers are asking anyone who knew Walsh or has been in contact with her during the month of April to call the Southeast District Major Crime Unit.
