Joël Drommel joins Sparta Rotterdam on loan from PSV
Joël Drommel has finalised his loan transfer from PSV to Sparta Rotterdam, the two Eredivisie clubs have confirmed. Drommel arrives at Het Kasteel as the successor to Nick Olij, who took the opposite route earlier this summer. The 28-year-old goalkeeper from Bussum will have to compete with Filip Bednarek. Sparta were also linked with Jasper Schendelaar, but the PEC Zwolle goalkeeper proved too expensive. Advertisement To prevent Drommel from leaving on a free transfer after his loan spell at Sparta, PSV are extending his expiring contract until the summer of 2027. He transferred from FC Twente to PSV four years ago for a hefty €3.5 million and played 66 matches in Eindhoven. In the 2022-23 season, Drommel experienced his biggest highlight at PSV, saving the decisive penalty in the cup final against Ajax. Sparta director Gerard Nijkamp indicated that Drommel's transfer was also necessary for the goalkeeper himself. 'He wants to become the first-choice goalkeeper at an Eredivisie club again, something PSV couldn't offer him. 'With us, Joël can prove in pre-season why he's ready to become Sparta's first-choice goalkeeper. We're very happy with Joël's arrival, as we've been looking for good replacements for Olij this summer.' GBeNeFN | Max Bradfield

Icelandic Ajax midfielder to trade Amsterdam for Enschede
According to Voetbal International, Kristian Hlynsson is in his final days as an Ajax player. The Icelandic midfielder is reportedly on his way to FC Twente. Hlynsson seemingly always had little prospect of playing time with the Ajax first team, yet still managed to turn heads during his loan period at Sparta Rotterdam. At Het Kasteel, the 21-year-old registered two goals and three assists in 14 Eredivisie appearances. Advertisement Due to this reasonable form, Twente will now buy out the Icelandic prospect's contract. This still has a year to run. The transfer fee is so far unknown. So far, the Danish-born Iceland international has four caps for Strákarnir okkar, having featured from U15 level. GBeNeFN | Max Bradfield

Sparta Rotterdam complete important deal keeping loanee at Het Kasteel
As per VoetbalPrimeur, Sparta Rotterdam have made a major move on the transfer market, making Nökkvi Thórisson's loan move permanent. The Rotterdammers have officially exercised the purchase option from the initial loan agreement with St. Louis City in the winter window. The Icelandic Thórisson has signed a contract with Sparta until mid-2028. It is not clear how much the club have paid for the 25-year-old striker. What is clear, however, is that technical director Gerard Nijkamp is very happy with the move. Advertisement 'In the past six months, Nökkvi's loan spell has been very good for both us and him. In the conversations we had, it quickly became clear that he was happy at Sparta and that we both wanted to continue working together for a longer period of time.' Thórisson played twelve Eredivisie matches for Sparta in recent months, scoring two goals in the process. The forward is one of the many players who played on loan under coach Maurice Steijn this season.
