Brother-in-law carries out Rs 19.7 loot in farmer's house
Rajkot: The Porbandar Local Crime Branch (LCB) arrested eight people, including two key conspirators, for the robbery of cash and jewellery worth Rs 19.7 lakh in a house in Kandorna village of Ranavav taluka on July 28. The robbery was plotted, allegedly by the brother-in-law of complainant Karsan Ahir (60) and the accused ecamped with 27 tolas of gold and Rs 80,000 in cash. Porbandar SP Bhagirathsingh Jadeja said six masked men armed with knives barged into Ahir's house, gagged him, his wife Pami, and daughter-in-law Jashu with plastic tape and assaulted them before carrying out the loot. Four teams comprising the LCB, Special Operations Group (SOG), parole and furlough Squad, and Ranavav police used CCTV footage, technical surveillance, and human intelligence, and tracked down the gang's vehicle travelling from Ranavav towards Jamnagar. It was intercepted, and stolen valuables were recovered. LCB in-charge inspector RK Kambariya said the first arrests included Ravirajsingh Jadeja, Jatin Pal, Siddheshwar alias Sidhu Parmar, Sahil alias Kalu Yadav, Neeraj alias Bathiyo Chauhan, and Vishal Chaudhary. During interrogation, Ravirajsingh confessed that the robbery was masterminded by Ahir's brother-in-law, Dilip Sanjva, and his associate Praful Charadva. They provided information about the valuables, the house layout, and family members' movements, and agreed to take 50% of the loot after the crime. Based on these revelations, LCB then arrested Sanjva and Charadva. Preliminary investigations revealed that Sanjva is a habitual offender previously booked in a kidnapping-and-murder case in Gandhinagar district.

Major degree verification lapses found in PTI-2022 recruitment
Jaipur: The Special Operations Group (SOG) probing the PTI-2022 recruitment exam scam has uncovered a widespread "degree switch" racket involving forged academic credentials from multiple universities. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now As per the SOG's FIR, while at least 25 candidates selected initially claimed to have been enrolled in different universities at the time of applying, they eventually submitted Bachelor of Physical Education (BPEd) degrees from Uttar Pradesh's scandal-tainted JS University during document verification at the Rajasthan Staff Selection Board (RSSB). A senior SOG officer said this bait-and-switch tactic raised red flags, suggesting degrees were fraudulently procured after candidates cleared the exam. The probe revealed 26 other candidates submitted JS University degrees with altered academic sessions—their mark sheets were suspiciously "printed on the same day". In addition, nine candidates listed Diploma in Physical Education (DPEd) in their forms, but submitted BPEd degrees post-selection. Investigators also identified three private universities—in Meghalaya, Chhattisgarh, and Gujarat—whose degrees were similarly misused. They suspect intermediaries helped candidates obtain backdated or forged degrees from these institutions to fraudulently meet eligibility criteria. Acting on digital evidence from JS University's server—which records tamper-proof timestamps of printed mark sheets—SOG registered an FIR on Saturday against 167 individuals. This includes 165 selected candidates, JS University officials, and unknown accused. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The probe builds on the March 2024 arrests of JS University's chancellor, registrar, and a middleman in a separate forged degree racket. Forensic analysis of documents and the interstate network is underway. As per the FIR filed by SOG, investigators focused on 203 selected candidates from JS University's academic sessions 2017–2019, 2018–2020, 2019–2021, and 2020–2022, and found that only one candidate had a mark sheet printed during the official academic session (2018–2020). The remaining mark sheets were generated during or immediately before the recruitment process. As per the latest FIR, JS University is authorised to admit only 100 students annually for the BPEd course. At most, 400 valid graduates from four academic sessions should have been eligible. Yet, 2,082 applicants appeared for the PTI exam.
