Aldi brings back its cult 'fish wine'
Crisp, zesty and best paired with seafood, it went viral last year and sold out quickly, so buyers are predicting it's likely to fly off shelves again. Known among some fans as the 'Fish Wine' thanks to its pairing with seafood, this crisp and clean white wine became a hit when it first launched. What is fish wine? The Specially Selected Rías Baixas Albariño is made in Spain's renowned Rías Baixas region, celebrated for producing some of the world's finest Albariños. With its zesty citrus notes, subtle minerality and refreshing finish, this wine is best paired with a seafood feast. Wine bloggers @tomgilbeywine (658k followers) and @thewinewally (120k followers) took to social media to share their thoughts on the wine. TomGilbeyWine said: 'If you want peaches, nectarines and white flowers, you can get them for well under ten quid.' Meanwhile, TheWineWally said: 'If you like really crisp, refreshing white wines, this is the one, I'm telling you.' It follows the success of Le Petit Poulet Rosé (£6.49) – a Provence-style rosé offering a purse-friendly alternative to La Vieille Ferme, also known as 'Chicken Wine'. (Image: Aldi) Recommended reading: This delicately pale rosé bursts with citrus and red berry notes, delivering all the flavours of Provence without the hefty price tag. At 24% cheaper than La Vieille Ferme Rosé, it has been praised by those looking to create the perfect aperitif moment while soaking up the sun. Also this week, Aldi is dropping the price of its Aperini Aperitivo Spritz (its take on the classic Italian spritz) from £3.99 to £3.49 – designed for summer sipping on a budget.
