CCM Magazine Relaunches with Christian Music Icon Steven Curtis Chapman Cover Reveal
'This is more than a celebration — it's the return of something timeless..'— Amanda Sekulow, Co-Editor of CCM Magazine NASHVILLE, TN, UNITED STATES, August 4, 2025 / / -- Newly relaunched CCM Magazine is proud to announce the first new cover story in years, featuring Christian music icon Steven Curtis Chapman. CCM Magazine, the preeminent voice of the Christian music scene, is back and reimagined under new ownership and the cover story kicks off a brand-new era for the storied music brand. Watch the CCM Cover Reveal with Steven Curtis Chapman: CCM Magazine co-editor Logan Sekulow sat down with Chapman for a heartfelt trip through memory lane, as Steven opens up about the role the magazine has played in his journey, and reflects on the legacy of his music, faith, and fans. 'This is more than a celebration — it's the return of something timeless,' says co-editor Amanda Sekulow. The digital double cover reveal will be followed by a full-length cover story and a longform video interview on August 6th. Then on August 8th, CCM Magazine will release exclusive new performances of classic tracks from Chapman's platinum-selling and Grammy & Dove Award-winning album, Speechless, which turns 25 this year – all exclusively available at 'I was reading CCM Magazine in 1978,' says Chapman. 'It was the coolest thing because that was the music that we loved. The idea that I would ever be in one, much less be on the cover, you know, it was like the cover of Rolling Stone. Well, hey, forget that. The cover of CCM Magazine would be the coolest thing that I could ever imagine.' Earlier this year, CCM Magazine was acquired by Logan and Amanda Sekulow, who announced plans for a full brand relaunch, creating a network of exclusive content with an expansive editorial and digital team, including streaming video, podcasts and much more. Originally founded in 1978, the iconic music publication was the first to coin the phrase 'CCM' for Contemporary Christian Music which had previously been known simply as 'Jesus Music.' As the Contemporary Christian Music scene mushroomed into a billion-dollar industry, 'Christian music' became widely regarded as an actual genre, even though it included rock, pop, hip-hop, punk, metal and other styles of music. Alex Gibney to Exec Produce Doc About College Culture Wars and Freedom of Speech (EXCLUSIVE)
Oscar winner Alex Gibney has signed on to executive produce 'Speechless,' a feature-length documentary about the culture wars being waged and the threats to freedom of speech on university and college campuses across the United States. Directed by Ric Esther Bienstock ('Enslaved'), the doc will feature interviews with students, faculty, and administrators from a wide range of universities and colleges, including community colleges and the Ivys. 'Speechless' will examine the fiery ideological clashes, stark political divides, and deeply personal battles shaping the future of higher education. Additionally, the current threat to freedom of speech and academic freedom on U.S. college campuses will be covered in the film. To convey the turbulent crossroads facing academia, the doc will include covert recordings inside Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion offices, a white professor's landmark legal battle against racial discrimination, a conservative takeover of a Florida college, and the dramatic canceling of a Harvard biologist's 20-year career. 'This documentary shines a much-needed spotlight on the critical issues facing higher education today and challenges us to confront the consequences of stifling dissenting voices.' On March 4, in a social media post, President Trump threatened to stop federal funding for 'any College, School, or University that allows illegal protests,' and proposed that 'agitators will be imprisoned/or permanently sent back to the country from which they came.' 'In these dangerously polarized times, I thought it was essential to investigate the institutions shaping the minds of our future citizens and leaders,' says Bienstock. 'It's easy to mock 'woke' politics and rant about right-wing agendas, but the reality is more nuanced and, from what we've witnessed, way more dramatic. And now, with Trump in the White House and academia in his sights, the future of higher education has never been more precarious.' 'Speechless' is currently in production and is being backed by Toronto-based Good Soup Productions, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, BBC Storyville and The Why Foundation. In addition to Gibney, Mette Hoffmann Meyer and Randi Kirshenbaum will serve as executive producers on the film. Producers are Bienstock and Garfield L. Miller ('Percy Vs Goliath'). The documentary does not yet have a release date or U.S. distribution. CBC and BBC Storyville will distribute the doc in Canada and England, respectively. Gibney is currently in production on 'Musk,' about Elon Musk for HBO Documentary Films, and 'Knife,' a tentatively titled documentary inspired by Salman Rushdie's memoir 'Knife: Meditations After an Attempted Murder,' published in April. ‘The Big Bang Theory' Spinoff Lands Another Star From the Original Series
John Ross Bowie is poised to reprise the role of Caltech plasma physicist and string theorist Barry Kripke in a spinoff of CBS' long-running sitcom 'The Big Bang Theory' currently in the early stages of development at Max. An individual familiar with the matter tells TheWrap that because the project has not yet received a series greenlight, Bowie has signed a holding deal with Warner Bros. Television. The spinoff comes from Chuck Lorre Productions in association with WBTV. Lorree serve as an executive producer and writer alongside Zak Penn and Bill Prady. Additional details about the project remain under wraps. Other 'Big Bang Theory' alums poised to return include Kevin Sussman, who portrayed Stuart Bloom, Brian Posehn, who played Bert Kibbler, and Lauren Lapkus, who played Denise. Introduced in Season 2, Kripke became a fan favorite, known for incessantly mocking his colleague and rival Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons) and his speech impediment due to rhotacism. He would go on to become a recurring character through the remainder of the show's 12-season run. In addition to 'The Big Bang Theory,' Bowie's other credits include 'Speechless,' 'Children's Hospital,' 'Jumanji: The Next Level,' and another Chuck Lorre CBS comedy, 'United States of Al.' The latest 'Big Bang Theory' spinoff follows the CBS hit 'Young Sheldon,' which ended last year after a 7-season run on the network.
