Brighton PD to take part in Speed Awareness Week
BRIGHTON, N.Y. (WROC) – The Brighton Police Department will be taking part in a campaign called Speed Awareness Week beginning Monday and it will run through June 15.
Officers with the BPD say speeding is a preventable issue and it was the primary cause of 31 percent of all fatal crashes in New York in 2024, and 329 lives were lost and 2,361 people sustained serious injuries.
This week the department will increase patrols to deter speeding and reduce the incidence of speed-related crashes.
