Beyonce's surprising response to legal threat from Las Vegas Sphere owners over tour imagery

Beyonce has shared a cheeky response to a cease a desist letter she received from the owner of the Las Vegas Sphere. Last week, the Sphere Entertainment Group fired off a cease and desist to the singer's team, accusing them of using imagery of the venue 'without permission' and claiming it could mislead fans into thinking she was set for a Sphere residency. Social media immediately poked fun at the bizarre legal matter, and it seems as though Beyonce and her team have also seen the funny side. The original tour backdrop video shows the superstar marching through Las Vegas in slow motion. She then arrives at the Sphere and bends down to pick it up, taps it and then walks away with it still in her hands. Beyonce's team has now edited the footage, and they posted the new version on social media. The hastily edited clip now sees Beyonce picking up Las Vegas's Allegiant Stadium instead of the iconic Sphere. It appears that the cease and desist may have been the result of some bad blood between the CEO of Sphere Entertainment and Queen B after Billboard reported that negotiations to have the singer perform at the venue fell through and she instead chose the Allegiant stadium. Meanwhile, it comes after reports emerged that Beyonce was failing to shift thousands of tickets on her tour. The superstar began on her 32-stadium Cowboy Carter tour at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles last week and will be bringing the show across both sides of the Atlantic over the next three months. However, she's once again missing out on coming to Australia. Beyonce's show in Los Angeles had more than 3,800 seats still available with just hours before the show, according to TMZ. Numerous fans picked up bargain price tickets just minutes before she walked on stage – angering fans who paid up to four figures for seats when they first went on sale. 'Due to its low demand, Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter Tour tickets ($20) are now cheaper than a McDonald's Minecraft meal ($21.39),' wrote one fan on social media.

Beyoncé removes Las Vegas Sphere from tour visuals after cease-and-desist, replaces with Allegiant Stadium

Beyoncé has replaced the Las Vegas Sphere in her Cowboy Carter tour visuals after receiving a cease-and-desist letter from Sphere Entertainment Group. The imagery, which originally appeared in an interlude during her concert, showed a digitally enhanced Beyoncé interacting with a miniature version of the high-tech venue. According to Billboard, Sphere Entertainment Group requested its removal, stating the footage was used without permission and created misleading assumptions about a potential future residency. The group also claimed they were not contacted for permission and objected to the prominence of their property in the video. In response, Beyoncé has swiftly updated the visuals to now feature Allegiant Stadium, where she is scheduled to perform on 25 and 26 July. The adjustment removes any reference to the Sphere, which has previously hosted residencies for U2 and The Eagles and will soon expand to Abu Dhabi. Reports suggest that Sphere CEO James Dolan had previously tried to secure a Beyoncé residency at the venue, though her summer Las Vegas dates will take place at Allegiant Stadium instead. The Cowboy Carter tour, which began on 28 April at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, has received widespread praise. Beyoncé performs a 36-track set highlighting her March 2024 album, alongside several theatrical visuals and special guest appearances. The tour continues through the US, UK, and Europe, including six dates at London's Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in June.

Beyoncé faces bump in the ride on 'Cowboy Carter' tour after cease-and-desist letter

Beyoncé has received a cease-and-desist letter from Sphere Entertainment Group (SEG) after controversial visuals from her 'Cowboy Carter' tour depicted the singer towering over the Las Vegas skyline and lifting the Sphere venue. The imagery, which debuted during the opening night of her tour at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, shows Beyoncé as a colossal figure interacting with the high-tech concert venue. Kathleen McCarthy, attorney for SEG, stated in the letter that the footage was used without permission and violates the company's intellectual property rights. McCarthy emphasized that the video portrays Beyoncé as "many orders of magnitude larger than the Sphere venue," with the singer leaning over, picking up the venue, and looming over it. McCarthy confirmed that SEG had not authorized the use of the Sphere venue in the visuals. The letter also addresses significant speculation stirred by the unauthorized footage, suggesting that Beyoncé might be planning a residency at the Sphere, a rumor that had circulated since last year when talks reportedly fell through. The letter demands that Beyoncé's production company, Parkwood Entertainment, immediately cease using the Sphere venue in the video, and refrain from using the imagery in any merchandise, promotional materials, or tour movies. If Parkwood Entertainment does not comply with the request, SEG has warned it may pursue further legal action. Beyoncé's 'Cowboy Carter' tour, which supports her country-inspired album of the same name, launched on Monday. The tour includes dates across the U.S., London, and Paris, and is scheduled to conclude in July.

Beyoncé faces ‘Monday deadline' amid shocking legal troubles over Cowboy Carter tour

Beyoncé received a cease-and-desist letter for a recent performance amidst her ongoing 'chaotic' Cowboy Carter tour. The singer commenced her country concert tour in Los Angeles last week. However, Madison Square Garden's boss James Dolan sent a strongly worded letter regarding the imagery she used in her first two performances, Page Six reported. The 32-time Grammy winner was warned in the court filing to take down a scene from her performances in which she was seen grabbing the Las Vegas Sphere and playing with it. The Sphere Entertainment Group has charged Beyonce's production firm Parkwood Entertainment of 'impermissible use and violation' of the firm's intellectual property rights. 'Beyoncé - many orders of magnitude larger than the Sphere venue - leans over, picks up the venue, and looms over it,' wrote lawyer Kathleen McCarthy in the 'cease-and-desist' letter. 'SEG was never asked and the prominent appearance and manipulation of SEG's Sphere venue in the video is unauthorized,' he added. According to the lawyers, Beyonce's firm has not taken any permission, sparking 'significant speculation' that the concert will finish with a residency at the venue. Dolan and his team have given Beyoncé a Monday deadline to take down the pictures from her performances. As per Dolan's SEG, it 'reserves all rights to take further action' if she doesn't comply. Beyoncé began her Cowboy Carter tour on April 28 and will be performing all over the world until July 26. Earlier this week, Beyonce stunned the star-studded audience in Inglewood, California after her tour was prematurely labeled a 'flop.' During her amazing performance, she created an emotional moment by bringing her seven-year-old daughter Rumi and her 13-year-old eldest child, Blue Ivy, on the stage.
