The annual federal holiday recognizing members of the armed forces from any war always falls on the last Monday of May, and this year, Memorial Day is observed on Monday, May 26. Apart from backyard barbecues, road trips, lake trips and the plethora of other activities on many people's day off work, some restaurants are offering deals and specials to observe the holiday. Unless noted, these deals are available for Monday only. Here are some of the Memorial Day deals you can score this year. More than eight in 10 U.S. adults (84%) plan to celebrate Mother's Day, spending $259.04, on average, for gifts and activities – about $5 more than a year ago – according to the National Retail Federation's survey of 7,948 consumers conducted March 31-April 7 by Prosper Insights & Analytics. But some consumers say higher prices, due to inflation and the effect of tariffs, means they will spend less than in the past. A LendingTree survey found consumers plan to spend, on average, $148, down 14% from 2023 spending ($172). More than half (56%) said inflation and the current economy would impact how much they spend, and 38% said tariffs mean they will spend less, according to the online survey of 2,000 U.S. consumers, conducted April 2-3 for LendingTree by QuestionPro.
