Here are some easy ways to celebrate your mom this Mother's Day.

Forget economic uncertainty, we are going to celebrate mom on Mother's Day, which is Sunday, May 11.
Whether you're shopping for mom or planning to take her out for brunch, you likely are expecting to pay more, finds a pair of recent consumer surveys. More than eight in 10 U.S. adults (84%) plan to celebrate Mother's Day, spending $259.04, on average, for gifts and activities – about $5 more than a year ago – according to the National Retail Federation's survey of 7,948 consumers conducted March 31-April 7 by Prosper Insights & Analytics.
But some consumers say higher prices, due to inflation and the effect of tariffs, means they will spend less than in the past. A LendingTree survey found consumers plan to spend, on average, $148, down 14% from 2023 spending ($172).
More than half (56%) said inflation and the current economy would impact how much they spend, and 38% said tariffs mean they will spend less, according to the online survey of 2,000 U.S. consumers, conducted April 2-3 for LendingTree by QuestionPro.
Luckily, if you want to take mom out for a meal – or you still need to get a present – many restaurants and retailers are offering deals and specials for Mother's Day. Remember to check your local favorites for specials, too.

Report: Where in the US are people spending the most on tips?
(NEXSTAR) – Tipping has become quite a controversial topic in the U.S. over the last few years. Whether you're at a restaurant, a cafe, Starbucks, or even a self-service counter at the airport, Americans are being asked to tip constantly. According to a new report from LendingTree, residents of the U.S. spent nearly $7.8 billion on tips for away-from-home food purchases in 2023. Roughly 15% of the money spent by Americans at the typical sit-down full-service restaurants was on tips. If you include the new, more unconventional dining places that have been asking for tips lately, like McDonald's or Chipotle, tips make up just under 7% of the money spent on food and drinks purchased away from home. Some states in particular have begun to see the amount they spend on tips increase significantly as well. New Hampshire stands far above the top of the country, with over 16% of their total spending on food away from home coming being money they spent on tips, says LendingTree. Not far behind is the nation's capital, Washington D.C., at just under 13%. Followed by South Carolina (11.17%) and Minnesota (10.11%).
