Leak Alert! These Could Be The Villains Of Spider-Man: Brand New Day
Last Updated: An Instagram user recently teased the addition of three classic comic villains, including Scorpion, Boomerang, and Tombstone. Spider-Man: Brand New Day is all set to swing back into action. With the makers now busy with shooting of the sequel around the world, updates continue to pique excitement among fans, with casting details now making headlines. While Tom Holland's Peter Parker will be returning as the beloved friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man, a fresh buzz has started making rounds about the future villains. Chris Higashi, who attended the Disney Blockbuster Consumer Products presentation in Las Vegas, shared an exciting update about the new Marvel movie. Mentioning that Spider-Man was one of the top titles on the agenda at the presentation, his post stated specifically, 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Scorpion, Boomerang, and Tombstone. 'Nuff Said. 2026 looks awesome!" 'SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY' will seemingly feature Scorpion, Tombstone and Boomerang as is according to a sizzle reel shown at a Disney Blockbuster Consumer Products panel. (via trusthigashi | IG) — Cosmic Marvel (@cosmic_marvel) May 20, 2025 It is worth mentioning that Scorpion and Tombstone have already made an appearance in the animated Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, playing the role of Kingpin's henchmen. Their mention at the event has now only shaken up the recent rumours surrounding the film, especially its characters. The official title for the upcoming Spider-Man film was revealed in April this year, with the release date now scheduled for July 31, 2026. However, details surrounding the plot or the villains that fans can expect to see have been kept under wraps. Holland has been confirmed to be returning as Peter Parker, while Sadie Sink recently joined the cast, expected to play a key character. Spider-Man New Look It was not just the villains that Higashi teased on his Instagram. In a now-deleted post, he seems to have accidentally unveiled the first look of the superhero costume. In the post that featured several Disney films of 2026, there was a subtle glimpse of Parker's costume, which appeared quite similar to the one he wore at the end of No Way Home; however, in darker shades. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is scheduled to hit theatres on July 31, 2026. First Published:

Spider-Noir first look: Nicolas Cage in gritty superhero series set during the Great Depression-era New York
Nicolas Cage is officially returning to the Spider-Verse, this time in a live-action role as the gritty, noir-style superhero in 'Spider-Noir,' a new series co-produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios. The first-look image for the series has been unveiled, giving fans a glimpse of Nicolas Cage's brooding take on the mid-century hero, first introduced in animated form in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018) and Across the Spider-Verse (2023). Set in Great Depression-era New York, 'Spider-Noir' follows an aging and down-on-his-luck private investigator, who also happens to be the city's only costumed crimefighter. The series marks Nicolas Cage's first television role, portraying a darker, vintage version of Spider-Man that pays homage to pulp fiction and noir cinema of the era. The series will be available to watch in both black-and-white and color, allowing viewers to choose how they experience the stylised setting. In addition to Cage, the series will feature a diverse ensemble cast including: Brendan Gleeson (The Banshees of Inisherin) Jack Huston (American Hustle) Lamorne Morris (New Girl, Fargo) Guest stars will include Andrew Caldwell, Amy Aquino, Cameron Britton, Kai Caster, Cary Christopher, Lukas Haas, Michael Kostroff, Scott MacArthur, Joe Massingill, Whitney Rice, Andrew Robinson, and Amanda Schull. 'Spider-Noir' is set to premiere sometime in 2026, though an exact date has not yet been revealed. The series will first air on MGM+'s cable and satellite channels in the US, followed by a global release on Amazon Prime Video the following day. Spider-Man Noir, also known as Spider-Noir or simply Noir, is an alternate version of Peter Parker from Marvel's Noir universe. Like the original, he gains his powers from a radioactive spider and takes on the mantle of crimefighter after the death of his Uncle Ben — but this version operates in a much darker, more violent world, using detective skills and old-school grit rather than quippy charm. With its period setting, stylized visuals, and Nicolas Cage's noir-infused gravitas, 'Spider-Noir' promises to bring something fresh to the ever-expanding Marvel multiverse.

First look: Nicolas Cage is all set to play the most genre-defying, neo-noir Spider-Man yet
The Spider-Verse just got darker, and a lot more interesting. Nicolas Cage, the cult-favourite actor known for his eclectic roles, is officially stepping back into the Spider-Man universe. But this time, he's not just lending his voice. In a dramatic twist for the franchise, Cage will star in Spider-Noir, a live-action neo-noir series coming to OTT in 2026. For fans of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, this won't be Cage's first dance with the web. He previously voiced the moody, hard-boiled Spider-Man Noir in the Oscar-winning animated film — a black-and-white vigilante from an alternate 1930s reality. That version became a breakout favourite thanks to his dry wit, trench coat swagger, and deep moral code. Now, he's back but not just in voice, but in full fedora-wearing, shadow-hugging glory. The first look gives fans a glimpse of Cage suited up in the character's now-iconic costume: white goggles glowing against a shadowy webbed mask, his trench coat billowing in the darkness. The show promises a faithful tone, drawing directly from the Spider-Man Noir comic books rather than the animated adaptation. Set in a hauntingly stylised 1930s New York, Spider-Noir follows an ageing, world-weary private investigator who once fought crime as the city's only superhero — but left that life behind. Now, faced with a city drowning in corruption and chaos, he must reckon with the ghost of the man he once was. The series will be released in both black-and-white and colour, offering viewers a choice between classic noir aesthetics and a more modern visual tone — an ambitious stylistic decision that mirrors the duality of the character himself. Though most details are under wraps, a leaked teaser has already ignited buzz online. It opens with a silhouetted figure standing above a rain-slicked skyline, Cage's gravelly voice narrating: 'Have you seen it? The city is a mess. The people could use a hero.' Quick cuts show a spider crawling across pavement, new mysterious faces, and the titular hero going hand-to-hand with armed thugs. The scene crescendos with a final, chilling shot: Spider-Noir's glowing white eyes illuminating in the dark, startling his prey. The teaser ends with a stark title card: Coming 2026. While Spider-Noir shares DNA with Into the Spider-Verse, it stands alone in tone and scope — a noir detective story draped in spandex and shadow. It's less quips and quirk, more bruised knuckles and broken pasts. With Cage at the helm, this series promises a version of Spider-Man unlike any we've seen before — older, edgier, and soaked in noir cool; Spider-Noir could become one of Marvel's boldest genre experiments yet.

Nicolas Cage Becomes 'Spider-Noir' in First Look Trailer
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek's network of contributors The very first teaser for "Spider-Noir" has leaked online, starring Nicolas Cage as the titular superhero. The teaser is only 30 seconds long, but it uses its time well, giving us a stylistic and impressive view of the show that's channeling "Sin City" in all the right ways. It was first viewed at Amazon's upfront presentation. You can watch the teaser below. Read More: Superman Battles Brutal Villain in New Teaser The series' official synopsis reads, "'Spider-Noir' is a live-action series based on the Marvel comic 'Spider-Man Noir'. 'Spider-Noir' tells the story of an aging and down-on-his-luck private investigator (Cage) in 1930s New York, who is forced to grapple with his past life as the city's one and only superhero." Nicolas Cage in "Spider-Noir". Nicolas Cage in "Spider-Noir". Amazon Studios While we don't have a more precise premiere date yet for "Spider-Noir" than 2026, we do know the series will premiere domestically on MGM+ and then internationally on Amazon Prime the next day. The series will also be available to viewers in both black-and-white and color. "Spider-Noir" stars Nicolas Cage, Lamorne Morris, Brendan Gleeson, Abraham Popoola, Li Jun Li, Karen Rodriguez, and Jack Huston. Though "Spider-Noir" marks the first time Nicolas Cage (or anyone for that matter) has played Spider-Man Noir in live-action, he previously voiced the hero in 2018's "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse". He's expected to return and reprise the voice role for the third entry in the film series, "Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-verse," which is scheduled to hit theaters June 4, 2027. This is also not Nicolas Cage's first Marvel rodeo. Though it wasn't a part of the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe, Cage starred as the titular fiery-headed hero in 2007's "Ghost Rider" as well as in the 2011 sequel, "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance". Spider-Man Noir first appeared in 2009's "Spider-Man: Noir" #1, and was created as part of a series of "Noir" transformations of Marvel heroes such as Luke Cage and Iron Man. Spider-Man Noir proved to be the most popular of them all and became a regular fixture in events bringing together all of Spider-Man's multiverse variants like "Spider-Verse" and "Spider-Geddon". In fact, Spider-Man Noir was abruptly killed off in the latter event, but was soon resurrected, no doubt in part because of his increased popularity thanks to "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse".
