Riders complete 15th Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge

Riders have completed the 15th edition Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge, held in partnership with the Dubai Sports Council. Cyclists filled the traffic-free streets on Sunday morning across Dubai for a pulsating race, culminating in an exciting sprint finish, family fun and an incredible atmosphere in the Eat Well Live Well Village at Expo City Dubai. 15th edition of the Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge, saw exceptional racing in the Elite Invitational Category and Group 1 - Elite Seeded competition. Thousands of riders set off for the 96.4 km race from Expo City Dubai and the last rider successfully crossed the finish line around 1 p.m. completing the event. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Spinneys Dubai 92 🚲 Challenge (@spinneysdubai92) In the elite category, male athlete Francesco Lamon and female athlete Makhabbat Umutzhanova were fastest across the finish line with respective times of 2:01:47 and 2:01:49, taking top spot in the standings and earning AED 10,000 each from the lucrative AED 36,000 prize pot. Lamon was followed closely by Maksim Orekhov and Jasper Verkuijl both securing podium positions with finishing times of 2:01:47. respectively. Similarly, Ebtissam Zayed and Akvile Gedraityte took second and third place with close margins, finishing with times of 2:01:49. To cap off a remarkable Aster Pharmacy BIG 5 competition, the overall winners saw Shaun Carey and Helle Bachofen Von Echt emerge as the male and female winners with times of 2:01:49 and 2:02:26. respectively. In the Open Category it was Emmauel Cabanas and Tania Rodrigues who took home the wins in the grand finale, with Cabanas crossing the finishing line in 2:01:49 and Rodrigues completing the 96.4km course in 2:02:28. In the Vets Category it was Simon Cox and Adriana Sanchez who took home the wins in the grand finale, with Cox crossing the finishing line in 2:01:51 and Sanchez completing the 96.4km course in 2:15:46. Held in partnership with Dubai Sports Council, Spinneys and Dubai 92, the Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge is one of the Middle East's premium sporting races, regularly attracting thousands of riders from all over the world. The 2025 Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge, a key qualifying race in the 2025 UCI Gran Fondo World Series season, saw elite cyclists take to the streets of Dubai, with 346 riders earning their spot in the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships in Lorne, Australia.

Weekend road closures for Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge

Organisers of the Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge are warning motorists of road closures on Saturday and Sunday, as riders gear up for the annual 92km main race and the smaller 35km and 12km events. On Saturday, February 22, from 6:15 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. there will be no access to the D54 Zayed Bin Hamdan Al Nayan to Expo City Dubai direction or from Expo City Dubai D54 Zayed Bin Hamdan Al Nayan Road. Restricted and limited traffic flow at the traffic lights of D54 Zayed Bin Hamdan Al Nayan / Hessa Street. Tilal Al Ghaf and Remraam will be affected. On Sunday, February 23 there will be a large number of closures for the main event. From 6:10 a.m. until 8:22 a.m there will be no access to D54 Zayed Bin Hamdan Al Nayan or the passing of the Traffic circle Al Qudra Road / Umm Sequim & D54 Zayed Bin Hamdan Al Nayan. The affected areas include Al Reem, Damac Hills, Damac Hills 2 Akoya (DAMAC), Mira, Mira Oasis, Town Square, Cherry Woods, Serena, Arabian Ranches 2, The Sustainable City, Al Waha, Layan. From 6:22 a.m. until 8:22 a.m. there will be no access to D54 Zayed Bin Hamdan Al Nayan or the passing of the traffic circle Al Qudra Road / Umm Sequim and D54 Zayed Bin Hamdan Al Nayan. The areas affected are Global Village, The Villa, City Land Mall, Arabian Ranches. From 6:50 a.m. until 8:40 a.m. there will be no access to Hessa Street. This means the areas affected are Studio City and Motor City. From 6:10 a.m. until 9:50 a.m. there will be no access to Hessa Street or D54 Zayed Bin Hamdan Al Nayan. The area affected is Tilal Al Ghaf. From 7:25 a.m. until 9:50 a.m. there will be no access to Hessa Street. Areas affected will be Sports City, Jumeriah Golf Estates, Al Barsha, Al Barsha South, Jumeriah Village Circle. From 7:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m there will be no access to Al Asayel Street (controlled exits, diverted route in place) and the areas affected will be Springs, Jumeriah Park, Emirates Hills, Jumeriah Islands, JLT (DMCC), Meadows diversion. The 15th edition of the Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge is approved by the UAE Cycling Federation and Dubai Sports Council, Dubai Police, RTA and Dubai Municipality.

UAE: 2 roads to be temporarily closed on February 22 for Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge

Certain roads in Dubai will be temporarily closed on Saturday, February 22 for the Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge 2025, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) said. Key roads affected include Sheikh Zayed Bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street and Hessa Street, which will be temporarily closed during the race. The 40-km race, part of the event's 15th edition, will take place at 6am to 9.30am on Saturday. Cyclists will start from Expo City Dubai, follow a route along Sheikh Zayed Bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street, make a U-turn at the Hessa Street intersection, and return to the finish line at Expo City Dubai. Motorists are advised to plan ahead and allow extra travel time. The RTA advised drivers to leave early to avoid delays and ensure they reach their destinations on time.
