Nicola Sturgeon praises ‘polite and courteous' Royal Family – but points out one notable ‘exception'

She also reveals her interactions with the Royal Family, including the late Queen. Ms Sturgeon tells how her meetings with senior members were mainly "positive". She said: "I know it is part of their training (breeding is probably the more accurate term), but they are always engaged and engaging, polite and courteous. "I can imagine Prince Andrew might be an exception, but thankfully, I've never had much to do with him.' Ms Sturgeon also reveals how she felt "slightly aggrieved" during one of Prince William's visits to Scotland. She had a private meeting with the future King in 2021. Ms Sturgeon said she held a 'cordial' meeting with the future king where politics did not come up. But later she learned that Prince William held a private meeting with ex-PM and pro-union campaigner Gordon Brown at Holyrood Palace. The former Labour leader had set up an 'anti-independence think tank' and said the meeting 'inevitably raised questions'. Ms Sturgeon also penned that Queen Elizabeth II "loved a bit of gossip" and asked about sexual harassment claims against Alex Salmond after they emerged in 2018 That same year, the pair met at Balmoral Castle in 2018, which she visited with husband Peter Murrell. Ms Sturgeon wrote: 'She asked me about it almost as soon as I sat down. She wasn't being trivial in any way, she wanted to know more of what was going on. I think she was also trying to put me at ease.' Mr Salmond had been revealed to be under investigation by cops and the Scottish Government for sexual misconduct while first minister - probes which sparked a collapse in his relationship with Ms Sturgeon. He was acquitted of sex offence charges in a high-profile court case in 2021. Ms Sturgeon said she found the late Monarch as 'utterly fascinating' and an 'incredible woman' in the book. She added she was 'struck by the aura' the Queen 'exuded as she entered the room' and praised her 'mystique' which she said no other Royal Family member had.

Anita Dobson reveals she's landed brand new Channel 5 drama after surprise EastEnders return

The actress, best known for portraying Angie Watts in EastEnders, confirmed to The Sun that she had landed a part in Channel 5's a Play for Today. Speaking to The Sun, Anita said: "I'm doing a Play for Today for Channel 5 and that starts next week. "I am very scared! "I just want to get it right - I care about it a lot!" Her brand new role comes after she surprised fans earlier this year with a shock EastEnders return. She took on the role of Angie one last time as part of the programme's 40th anniversary special week. The last time she had been seen on-screen was in 1988 before she was later killed off off-screen. Her return came as Sharon was left almost crushed in the horror Queen Vic explosion, she had a vision from mum Angie who appeared in a dream sequence to speak once more to her precious little girl. She recently admitted to The Sun at the British Soap Awards that her EastEnders return took a lot of persuasion. Anita told us last month: "It took a lot of talking because I wanted it to be right and I didn't want to do it if it wasn't going to actually work. She also confirmed she would not be back for any future cameos as she revealed she viewed her one-off return as a final outing for Angie. David Tennant, who plays villain Lord Tony Baddingham, was also seen on set. The ensemble cast also includes Danny Dyer, Katherine Parkinson and Emily Atack Following the original book, the first series of Rivals was set in the fictional county of Rutshire in the '80s. It saw long-held grudges bubble to the surface as characters vied for business and each others' affections in the cut-throat world of telly execs. Series two will comprise 12 episodes altogether - marking an increase of four. The Sun previously reported how execs commissioned the show for a second outing before series one even debuted. Viewers tuned into the show in droves as they raved about the racy action in both the bedroom and boardroom. After the jaw-dropping cliffhanger ending, many viewers eagerly waited to watch more on Disney+. Fans soon flocked to social media to share their appreciation for the show. Anne, who suffers from tinnitus, eventually quit after just a year in the role. Rachel, who has two children with former Strictly pro husband Pasha Kovalev, 45, said admitted she couldn't believe how long she'd been on the Channel 4 quiz show. She said: "I've been doing Countdown for almost 16 years, I never even thought I'd be cast on the show so to still be doing it now is amazing. I love the job." Rachel replaced Carol Vordman in 2009 when she was just 22.
