Baseball America unveils projected field of 64: Is Clemson a top eight national seed?
Baseball America unveils projected field of 64: Is Clemson a top eight national seed? For the second straight year, Clemson is projected as a top eight national seed entering the month of April. Clemson baseball has gotten off to another strong start in 2025. Erik Bakich's Tigers are currently 25-8 overall after holding on for a 10-8 win over Georgia Southern in midweek play Tuesday. They're 6-3 in conference play, having won each of their first three ACC weekend series against Notre Dame, Wake Forest and Georgia Tech after a 4-3 come-from-behind victory over the Yellow Jackets Saturday night to clinch the series. Clemson is ranked No. 7 in this week's USA TODAY Sports Baseball Coaches Poll but fell two spots from No. 5 following an 18-2 blowout loss in Game 1 of last Saturday's doubleheader in Atlanta and an 8-2 loss to Coastal Carolina earlier that week. On Wednesday, Baseball America unveiled its new Field of 64 projections for the 2025 NCAA Tournament. The Tigers were a projected No. 7 national seed, one seed below ACC rival Florida State (23-4) and one seed ahead of the Alabama Crimson Tide (26-4). Baseball America's projected top five overall seeds are all SEC teams: the No. 1 Tennessee Volunteers (27-2 overall), followed by the Arkansas Razorbacks (No. 2, 27-3 overall), Texas Longhorns (No. 3, 23-4), Georgia Bulldogs (No. 4, 29-2) and LSU Tigers (No. 5, 27-3). Finishing with a top eight national seed would mean that Clemson would also host a best-of-three Super Regional, if the Tigers advance past their four-team on-site regional. Baseball America currently projects the Tigers to host the Arizona State Sun Devils, as well as Northeastern from the CAA, and East Tennessee State from the Southern Conference in a four-team, double-elimination Clemson Regional. The official field of 64 bracket that will make up the 2025 NCAA Baseball Tournament will be unveiled Monday, May 26 at 11 a.m. CT. The full bracket unveiling will be televised on ESPN2 or ESPNU. On-site regionals begin the following Friday, May 30. A year ago, Clemson advanced to the Super Regional round where they fell to the Florida Gators. Clemson's last trip to the College World Series in Omaha was back in 2010. Clemson baseball schedule 2025: Who do Tigers play next? The Tigers resume ACC play on Friday when they make a west coast trip to Berkeley to face the California Golden Bears (16-12 overall, 6-6 ACC) for the first time. First pitch Friday is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET. The game can be seen on ACC Network Extra/ESPN+.

Alabama makes big jump in new Top 25 college baseball rankings after Oklahoma series win Alabama moved into the top 10 in every major Top 25 poll and rankings after its SEC series victory over the Oklahoma Sooners Sunday. Florida baseball outside top 25 in all major polls
Florida baseball outside top 25 in all major polls Florida baseball lost three of four games last week and is no longer ranked in any of the four major polls. The Gators fell out of the D1Baseball Top 25 last week after being swept by the Georgia Bulldogs, and Baseball America, Perfect Game and USA TODAY Sports Baseball Coaches Poll have now followed suit. Florida stands at an unofficial No. 31 in the country with 22 points from the Coaches Poll voters, so there is still a chance for the Orange and Blue to get back in the mix with a strong week. The college baseball season officially reached the halfway mark (30 games played of 56 scheduled), and Florida has dropped series against Coaches Poll No. 1 Tennessee, No. 3 Georgia and No. 10 Ole Miss. Things won't get much easier with No. 20 Vanderbilt coming to town this weekend. The Gators have one midweek game this week against North Florida, kicking off a nine-game homestand. SEC Teams ranked in Top 25 Tennessee remains the consensus top program in college baseball, and Arkansas owns three of the four No. 2 spots and is No. 3 for Perfect Game. Georgia is PG's No. 2, with the Bulldogs landing at No. 3 for USA TODAY and D1Baseball. UGA is lowest ranked at No. 4 by Baseball America, giving the SEC three consensus top-4 teams in the sport. Texas ranks No. 5 everywhere but BA, where the Longhorns check in at No. 4 this week. LSU falls anywhere between Nos. 5 and 7, and Alabama is the consensus No. 8 team this week. Oklahoma holds three of four No. 9 spots, with Ole Miss in the fourth. The Rebels are inside the top-10 everywhere but Perfect Game, which means the SEC produced eight of the top-10 teams across all the major polls. Auburn is the next SEC team mentioned in the polls, finishing between Nos. 14 and 17 — the Tigers control a different spot in all four polls. Florida's upcoming opponent, Vanderbilt, is all over the place as well. Baseball America is the highest on the Commodores at No. 16, but the other three polls have him ranked No. 20 or lower. D1Baseball drops Florida from Top 25, USA TODAY and Perfect Game have Gators on bubble
D1Baseball drops Florida from Top 25, USA TODAY and Perfect Game have Gators on bubble Florida is out of the D1Baseball Top 25 after being swept by the Georgia Bulldogs over the weekend and is in danger of doing the same in the USA TODAY Sports Baseball Coaches Poll and Perfect Game College Top 25. Perfect Game ranks the Gators No. 22 this week and USA TODAY has them at No. 23. Florida has dropped six-straight games against SEC opponents to start the year, marking the worst opening in conference play of the Kevin O'Sullivan era in Gainesville. There's still time to turn it around, but two weeks of poor play have experts doubting the Orange and Blue as the halfway point of the college baseball season approaches. A midweek loss to Florida State isn't going to help Florida's case heading into a third weekend against a ranked SEC opponent. A sweep against Ole Miss might save Florida's spot in the rankings, but there's little reason to expect a number by its name moving forward. SEC Teams ranked in Top 25 Tennessee remains the consensus top program in college baseball, and Arkansas owns two of the three No. 2 spots on the chart below. Georgia is Perfect Game's No. 2, with Arkansas down at No. 4, and the Bulldogs are No. 3 everywhere else. LSU took a four-to-five-spot dip after a series loss to Texas, and the Longhorns leapfrogged the Tigers in two of three polls. Oklahoma is the No. 8 or No 9 program in the country, depending on the poll, giving the SEC seven consensus top-10 teams through six weeks of play. Alabama and Auburn lead the next tier of SEC teams. The Tigers moved up on all three lists into the No. 11 or 12 spots, and the Crimson Tide is holding steady in the same area. Vanderbilt is generally just behind those two programs, and Ole Miss is No. 15, according to USA TODAY and D1 Baseball; however, Perfect Game does not have the Rebels inside the top 25. Florida is the only SEC team ranked in any of the three polls below the No. 15 mark.
