Florida baseball outside top 25 in all major polls
Florida baseball lost three of four games last week and is no longer ranked in any of the four major polls.
The Gators fell out of the D1Baseball Top 25 last week after being swept by the Georgia Bulldogs, and Baseball America, Perfect Game and USA TODAY Sports Baseball Coaches Poll have now followed suit. Florida stands at an unofficial No. 31 in the country with 22 points from the Coaches Poll voters, so there is still a chance for the Orange and Blue to get back in the mix with a strong week.
The college baseball season officially reached the halfway mark (30 games played of 56 scheduled), and Florida has dropped series against Coaches Poll No. 1 Tennessee, No. 3 Georgia and No. 10 Ole Miss. Things won't get much easier with No. 20 Vanderbilt coming to town this weekend. The Gators have one midweek game this week against North Florida, kicking off a nine-game homestand.
SEC Teams ranked in Top 25
Tennessee remains the consensus top program in college baseball, and Arkansas owns three of the four No. 2 spots and is No. 3 for Perfect Game. Georgia is PG's No. 2, with the Bulldogs landing at No. 3 for USA TODAY and D1Baseball. UGA is lowest ranked at No. 4 by Baseball America, giving the SEC three consensus top-4 teams in the sport.
Texas ranks No. 5 everywhere but BA, where the Longhorns check in at No. 4 this week. LSU falls anywhere between Nos. 5 and 7, and Alabama is the consensus No. 8 team this week. Oklahoma holds three of four No. 9 spots, with Ole Miss in the fourth. The Rebels are inside the top-10 everywhere but Perfect Game, which means the SEC produced eight of the top-10 teams across all the major polls.
Auburn is the next SEC team mentioned in the polls, finishing between Nos. 14 and 17 — the Tigers control a different spot in all four polls. Florida's upcoming opponent, Vanderbilt, is all over the place as well. Baseball America is the highest on the Commodores at No. 16, but the other three polls have him ranked No. 20 or lower.

Nation's No. 1 RB Issues Four-Word Message Before Official Visit to Georgia

Nation's No. 1 RB Issues Four-Word Message Before Official Visit to Georgia originally appeared on Athlon Sports. On Wednesday, class of 2026 running back Savion Hiter took to social media to shut down reports that the Tennessee Volunteers and Michigan Wolverines were the top teams he was leaning toward. Advertisement The Georgia Bulldogs and Ohio State Buckeyes are happy to hear that, as they, along with the teams listed above, are among the four remaining programs in contention to land his services. After visiting with the Buckeyes on May 30, Georgia will now get their chance, hosting Hiter for an official visit in Athens on Friday, which will run through Sunday. On Thursday, Hitler took to X to confirm his plans with the Bulldogs. He posted a graphic of himself in a Georgia uniform and captioned it "OV #2 this weekend." There's no doubt that head coach Kirby Smart is going to be making a big effort to make a strong impression, as On3 Industry Rankings has Hiter as a five-star recruit, the No. 1 running back and the No. 11 player in the nation. Advertisement Last season, Hiter was extremely impressive at the high school level. He ran the ball 156 times for 1,698 yards and 26 touchdowns, while also racking up 56 tackles, seven sacks and one interception at outside linebacker. His recruiting process is far from over after his time with the Bulldogs, as he also has several official visits to take, including ones already scheduled with the Wolverines (June 13) and the Volunteers (June 20). Georgia Bulldogs Football Head Coach Kirby Smart© Dale Zanine-Imagn Images If Hiter does land with Georgia, though, he'd be a huge addition to their already impressive 2026 recruiting class, sporting a total of 12 commitments, ranking No. 2 in the SEC and No. 5 in the nation, per On3. Florida baseball loses LHP to transfer portal

Florida baseball loses LHP to transfer portal Florida sophomore left-hander Jacob Gomberg entered the transfer portal on Monday, marking the first departure of the 2025 offseason for the Gators baseball program. Gomberg was a minimal factor in Florida's bullpen, making just four appearances and throwing two total innings over as many seasons. He walked five and struck out three of the 19 batters he faced, ending his time in Gainesville with a 40.50 ERA. The 5-foot-10 left-hander signed with Florida as a member of the 2023 recruiting class. Ranked No. 327 nationally by Perfect Game, Gomberg was among the elite southpaws at the high school level and ranked inside the top 50 positionally. He played alongside Jake Clemente and Christian Rodriguez at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, winning three consecutive state championships, and was a member of the Canes National Scout Team (NY Mets Scout) that finished the travel circuit ranked No. 1 among 17U clubs in the 2022 summer circuit.. Gomberg's calling card was a wipeout slider, which is still talked about locally as one of the best pitches to ever come through the area. The problem is that the legend has stayed local, for the most part. Gomberg has dealt with injuries since the summer of 2022 when he was with that Canes team. He didn't throw an inning his senior year at Douglas and made just one appearance as a true freshman last season. Kevin O'Sullivan rarely called Gomberg's number throughout the season. When he did, the game was getting out of hand or there already. Still, the lefty struggled in these situations, recording just three outs over 13 batters faced. His final appearance was a four-pitch walk against Vanderbilt that brought Sully back out after one batter. The writing has been on the wall here for some time. Gomberg wasn't getting innings in a season where Florida didn't have a left-handed relief arm. With draft eligibility coming into play next year, Gomberg needs to go somewhere he'll get innings. If that slider returns to form, he can salvage a career at a mid-major. Despite being labeled a sophomore, Gomberg has three years of collegiate eligibility remaining. Pair of Georgia rivalry games gets major sponsorship

Pair of Georgia rivalry games gets major sponsorship The Georgia Bulldogs have already announced that they will play a rivalry game at Mercedes Benz Stadium for each of the next two seasons. However, AMB Sports and Entertainment announced that Mercedes Benz will host more college games in the future. This series of college games will be called the "Invesco QQQ Atlanta Gridiron Classic", and the 2025 Georgia versus Georgia Tech game will be the start of it. The aim is to "host powerhouse college football programs and storied rivalries on one of college football's biggest stages." Georgia's game against Georgia Tech in 2025 will mark a memorable moment. It will be the first time the rivalry of "Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate" has taken place in a neutral site. The matchup will occur on Black Friday, Nov. 28. Additionally, The Bulldogs have never played the Florida Gators in Mercedes-Benz before. The World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party has taken place in Jacksonville for the past 18 years. Following the 2026 matchup in Atlanta, the two teams will meet again in Raymond James Stadium in 2027 before returning to Jacksonville, which is undergoing stadium renovations for the next couple of years, in 2028. Georgia will earn $17.5 million in the next two years from this series. The Bulldogs will earn $10 million from the 2025 game versus Georgia Tech and $7.5 million for the 2026 game against Florida. Kirby Smart is currently 7-4 all-time in Mercedes-Benz, but in 2024, he went 2-0, winning the season opener against Clemson and the SEC championship against Texas.
