Bill Belichick's book is out today
Smile, Bill. Your book is out today. Of course, the man who doesn't smile much might not be inclined to smile about anything at all, when it comes to The Art of Winning: Lessons From My Life in Football. Advertisement He wouldn't even smile about the title. "The publisher, a couple of other advisers on the book, that was really their choice," Belichick said in his now-notorious CBS interview, before it went fully off the rails. "My choice would have been, How I Did My Job or Lessons From My Life in Football." The title has taken a back page to the many stories about Belichick, sparked by his girlfriend interrupting the CBS interview with a stern refusal to answer the hard-hitting question of how the two met. Her commandeering of the Q&A sparked an avalanche of reporting, with Belichick landing squarely on the radar screen of the likes of TMZ and Page Six. While the book will make plenty of news for what it says, what it doesn't say has been the biggest story yet. Belichick deliberately omitted any mention of Patriots owner Robert Kraft, offering up a flimsy and not credible explanation for the slight: 'It's about my life lessons in football, and it's really more about the ones I experienced directly.' Advertisement Regardless of whether and to what extent Belichick gets credit for the six New England Super Bowl wins, Kraft had the foresight to pick Belichick, at a time when Belichick was only slightly more attractive to NFL owners than he currently is. "Everybody who [Kraft] knew in the league — everybody — said, 'Don't do this. This will be a disaster. Don't do it,'" Peter King recalled regarding the hiring of Belichick in King's recent appearance on the Sports Media with Richard Deitsch podcast. "And he said, 'No, I got a good feeling about Belichick.'" So now the man who saw something in Belichick when few others did gets nothing at all in Belichick's ultra-long-form look at his career? It's ludicrous. It's juvenile. Hell, it's infantile. Belichick's book tour continues later today in New York, in an appearance at NYU with Suzy Welch. We'll see whether he (or his girlfriend) makes any news. And whether he'll be wearing a suit and tie or a moth-ridden football jersey from the days before the invention of the forward pass.

‘SNL' roasts Bill Belichick and Jordon Hudson's age gap relationship in cold open
Bill Belichick and his girlfriend Jordon Hudson were lampooned on 'Saturday Night Live' for their gapingly wide age gap in the show's cold open this week. The skit featured James Austin Johnson's Donald Trump assisted by Mikey Day's Stephen Miller in an executive order-signing skit that deflated Belichick's ego. 'Sir, this order will make it socially acceptable for a man in his 70s to date a 24-year-old,' Miller tells Trump, with the audience roaring in recognition of the subject matter. 4 James Austin Johnson and Mikey Day portray President Donald Trump and Stephen Miller during SNL's cold opening on May 3, 2025. SNL/YouTube 'That's right, we're calling it 'The Belichick Law.' We're going to make girlfriends young again, okay,' Johnson's Trump said. 'Old men can now date far younger women. We like that. It's hot! But in reverse it's quite disgusting, right? Very 'Dateline,'' the mock president added. Legendary NFL coach Bill Belichick's relationship with the 24-year-old Hudson is not just fodder for comedy but also for concern amongst his peers. Ex-NFL insider Peter King expressed his concerns over Hudson on the podcast 'Sports Media with Richard Deitsch.' 'Bill's got to get a hold of himself here. He's got to get a hold of this situation. This is embarrassing. It's totally embarrassing for a guy who's as great at his job as he is,' King said. 4 Bill Belichick sits down for an interview with CBS as his girlfriend Jordon Hudson stands by. Bill Belichick has ‘got to get ahold of himself' with Jordon Hudson — ex-NFL insider Pete King rips ‘embarrassing' situation
Peter King covered Bill Belichick throughout his NFL career, watching him rise from a whiz Giants assistant to arguably the greatest NFL coach of all-time with the Patriots. Seeing the notoriously cagey Belichick now becoming involved in all this drama connected to his 24-year-old girlfriend Jordon Hudson, especially with her recent much-scrutinized role in his disastrous 'CBS Sunday Morning' interview, has shocked the retired NFL insider — and left him quite critical of the North Carolina coach. 'This is a guy who owned every room he ever walked into and now he's got a 24-year-old muse telling him what to do or trying to control situations that quite frankly she has nothing to do with or should have nothing to do with,' King said on the 'Sports Media with Richard Deitsch' podcast published Thursday. 'Bill's got to get a hold of himself here. He's got to get a hold of this situation. This is embarrassing. It's totally embarrassing for a guy who's as great at his job as he is.' 5 Hudson off to the side during the 'CBS Sunday Mornings' interview. CBS Belichick and Hudson's relationship has become one of the biggest storylines in all of sports, especially after her interference in his recent interview to discuss his upcoming book. Hudson interrupted interviewer Tony Dokoupil after he asked how they first met, saying that would not be discussed, and the segment labeled her as a 'constant presence' in their interview. Belichick later accused CBS of 'selective editing' and defended Hudson's role in the interview. 'This would've been a 'Mike and the Mad Dog' spectacular back in the old days,' King said of the drama. 5 Peter King in an Instagram post from 2022. @ Page Six also reported that Hudson 'forced' her way into the Dunkin' Donuts commercial featuring Belichick and Ben Affleck, among others. Reports have emerged stating North Carolina is 'concerned,' while some in Belichick's camp told The Post that they see the former collegiate cheerleader as a 'runaway train.' Former Patriots offensive lineman Ted Johnson said North Carolina should consider firing Belichick, his daughter-in-law criticized Hudson and even friend Charles Barkley said he's a 'little concerned.' 5 Hudson with Belichick during his infamous CBS interview. CBS It's all a stark contrast to the Belichick which King and others chronicled during his NFL days. King and Belichick no longer had a relationship as of two years ago, with the two falling apart following the SpyGate controversy that rocked the NFL world. 'That's the cost of doing business sometimes,' King told The Athletic in 2023. 'He's one of the greatest coaches of all time. I'm not sure I put him above Paul Brown, but he's right up there with the greatest to ever coach in any sport. But I think what he did in 2007 was wrong.' 5 Belichick and Hudson in February 2025. Getty Images King also ripped Belichick for conducting the interview, meant to publicize his upcoming book, 'The Art of Winning: Lessons from My Life in Football', while wearing a ripped sweatshirt. '(He) goes on Sunday morning television with a sweatshirt on with a hole in it,' King said, 'but then why … a couple days after this, why does TMZ have him walking out of the Ritz-Carlton hotel, I think in New York, in a perfectly tailored blue suit. Why? Where is he going? And why is he on a national TV show looking like he's going to a press conference in Foxborough on no sleep.' 5 Belichick did not dress up for the interview. CBS King believes Belichick looked like an 'idiot' and did not convince viewers to buy his book, although he did offer praise for the contents. 'That was a terrible look in the first place, but in general if you're going to be promoting a book, or you're going to be doing interviews, you can't the sullen, disinterested person that Bill Belichick was for CBS,' King said of Belichick's roughly eight-minute interview. 'You just shouldn't do it then. Why do it? Anyone who watched that piece, anyone. For me, if I'm watching that, 'I'm not buying that idiot's book. Why would I buy this guy? I hate this guy.' That is going to be the impression I get. 'Now, I think there's a lot of good of stuff in the book.'
