Oilers trade Evander Kane to Canucks for fourth-round pick: Source
The Edmonton Oilers have agreed to trade left wing Evander Kane to the Vancouver Canucks, his agent Dan Milstein confirmed. In return, the Oilers get a fourth-round pick, a league source said. Milstein said three teams were interested in Kane, but the veteran is going back home to Vancouver, which was his preference. With the move, Vancouver is picking up the full $5.125 million cap hit for the final year of the Kane's contract, the league source said. Advertisement Kane announced the trade on X. 'To the fans — thank you for embracing me and showing unwavering support throughout my time in Edmonton,' he wrote. 'Rogers Place was always electric, and I'm proud to have played in front of such a passionate hockey city. My family and I have built some incredible relationships that will last forever.' As my time with the @EdmontonOilers has now come to a close, I want to take a moment to sincerely thank the entire organization, my teammates, and the incredible community of Edmonton. To the Oilers Ownership, front office, coaching staff, and trainers—thank you for believing in… — Evander Kane (@evanderkane) June 25, 2025 The 33-year-old last played in his hometown as a teenager in the Western Hockey League. 'It's an honor to become part of an organization and team I grew up watching as a kid,' he wrote on X. 'Vancouver is a city that lives and breathes hockey, I'm looking forward to the opportunity to play in front of my hometown as I did many years ago as a Vancouver Giant.' Kane missed the entire 2024-25 regular season with an injury, but returned for the postseason and led the team in goals per 60 (1.12) at five-on-five. This story will be updated.

Giants rumors: Exec hits San Francisco with Rafael Devers warning
The post Giants rumors: Exec hits San Francisco with Rafael Devers warning appeared first on ClutchPoints. One MLB executive is questioning why the San Francisco Giants are agreeing to give up so much for Rafael Devers. Devers was traded from the Boston Red Sox to the Giants in recent days. San Francisco agreed to send four players to Boston in return for Devers. 'WTF were the Giants doing taking on that whole contract?' one executive texted to ESPN. 'Oh my god. That deal will not end well.' While that executive seemed to think the Giants may be on the losing end of this deal, others weren't quite so critical. '[The Red Sox] did well in this trade, for the long term,' another executive said. 'But they are going to miss him. You're not going to replace a hitter like Devers.' Red Sox fans are not happy that Devers is leaving the team. Many question the timing as Boston agreed to the deal while completing a three-game sweep of the New York Yankees. The Red Sox are not at the top of the American League East but were hovering around .500 with a chance to make a summer push toward the top of the standings. This season, Devers is hitting .272 with 15 home runs. He hit a homer in what would be his final game with the Red Sox on Sunday. Devers was reportedly not happy in Boston, which could have played a role in his split from the team. While the Red Sox are struggling to stay above water, the Giants are having smooth sailing. San Francisco is bouncing back from a disappointing 2024 season as the team currently holds a 41-31 record. The club is second in the National League West as of Tuesday. One reason why the team seems to be doing well is because of management. Buster Posey is the new president of baseball operations in San Francisco. He is doing well, as he has the team pushing Los Angeles for the division lead. This is despite the fact that the Giants lost some key players at the end of last year, including pitcher Blake Snell. Time will tell if Devers is able to deliver for the team. San Francisco starts a three-game series with the Cleveland Guardians Tuesday night. Omar Khan Explains Why Steelers Moved On from George Pickens
PITTSBURGH — Omar Khan doesn't usually address the media during Pittsburgh Steelers rookie minicamp. He also doesn't usually trade away the team's best wide receiver for a third-round pick the week of rookie minicamp. Khan took to the podium at UPMC Rooney Sports Complex on Friday to set the record straight about how George Pickens ended up traded to the Dallas Cowboys on Wednesday. Advertisement The Steelers were not expecting to trade Pickens, and were not actively shopping him, after fielding calls and turning down offers during the 2025 NFL Draft. But when the Cowboys called with an offer this week, they took it seriously. 'The trade sort of happened quickly,' Khan said. 'We had some people inquire during the draft. Nothing that really made sense. The Cowboys reached out, I don't remember what day it was, but earlier this week. They proposed something for us to think about.' Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver George Pickens during a game against the Kansas City Chiefs on Dec. 25, 2024. — End Thompson / Steelers Now The reason there were not weeks and weeks of trade drama is that the Steelers didn't try to shop Pickens to all 31 other teams, looking for a better deal. There reportedly was not much of a market for Pickens, anyway, but the Steelers tried to do right by him, sending him to place where he was comfortable going. Advertisement 'We had conversations internally and also had some conversations with George's agent Dave [Mulugheta], who I had a good relationship with,' Khan said. 'We discussed where thing have been with George, where they are, and where things could go with George. This trade made sense for everyone. … Lot of serious conversations, honest conversations. We just felt that a fresh start for both sides were the right thing.' The trade wasn't about anything that happened in the moment, not was it about the Steelers and Pickens running into problems with negotiations on a contract extension. The Steelers don't even start those until later this summer. It was, as Khan noted, about the personality fit — something he acknowledged has now happened repeatedly at the wide receiver position. 'We want to get good players, good people.' Advertisement One thing the trade doesn't mean: the Steelers aren't tanking. Khan made that abundantly clear, and expect a move to be made to backfill the wide receiver position. 'We're chasing a championship,' he said. 'Every decision we make is based on trying to win a championship, not only the future, but this year. We're focused on trying to win a championship this year. … There's a lot of time between now and the start of the season.'
