Who ran over flock of geese in Middlesex County? Police want to know
Spotswood police are investigating after someone apparently ran over a flock of geese in the area of Devoe Avenue near Devoe Lake on July 14.
Officers responded around 6:45 p.m. on reports that a vehicle had struck multiple geese that were crossing the roadway where they found seven dead geese in the street and the suspect vehicle gone from the scene, police said.
It's unclear whether the collision was accidental or intentional, police said, and the department is reviewing available surveillance footage from both nearby businesses and residences. Police are requesting assistance from any witnesses who may have observed the incident.
Geese are protected under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, and any intentional harm caused to them may constitute a violation of both state and federal regulations.
