Springfield police arrest three in cocaine, heroin operation
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Three people were arrested in Springfield for possessing over 1,000 bags of heroin, cocaine, and illegal firearms inside a home. Springfield man arrested after six-hour standoff on Byers Street Over the past several weeks, the Springfield Police Firearms Investigation Unit has been investigating the illegal distribution of heroin from an apartment on the 0-100 block of Canon Circle. A search warrant was applied for and granted for the home, with the suspects being 41-year-old Jose Mendez-Collazo of Springfield and 29-year-old Mariester Rivera of Springfield. While Detectives were conducting surveillance on Wednesday, they observed Mendez-Collazo get into a car and leave the Canon Circle area. He then parked on the 0-100 block of Mill Street, and a woman entered the car. As she was exiting the vehicle, Detectives detained her, 38-year-old Arianna Alvarado-Torres of Springfield, and Mendez-Collazo. Heroin was found on Alvarado-Torres, and heroin and cocaine on Mendez-Collazo. While Detectives were waiting for the search warrant to be executed at Canon Circle, Rivera was seen getting into a car and leaving the area. A traffic stop was conducted on the 500 block of Cooley Street, and Rivera was detained. Detectives executed the search warrant, and over 20 grams of cocaine were inside the home, along with 32 grams of heroin (1,643 bags), ammunition, and three loaded firearms. One of the firearms was a rifle with a 30-round magazine. Detectives also seized nearly $25,000 in cash. Mendez-Collazo, Alvarado-Torres, and Rivera were placed under arrest. Springfield man charged for armed robbery of electronic bike
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A Springfield man was arrested early Tuesday morning following an investigation into an armed robbery of an electronic bike. The Springfield Police Department said that on April 15, officers received a report of an armed robbery in a parking lot on the 1600 block of Boston Road. A masked suspect allegedly pointed a firearm at a victim and stole their electronic bike. Man sentenced after fentanyl found during Massachusetts traffic stop The suspect, identified as 20-year-old Daniel Walker of Springfield, was allegedly riding an illegal off-highway vehicle at the time of the robbery. He was arrested in Chicopee the evening of April 15 on unrelated charges. The armed robbery victim was unharmed and the stolen e-bike was recovered in Chicopee. Springfield Detectives began an investigation into the armed robbery incident and were able to identify Walker as the suspect in the armed robbery. They requested and were granted a warrant for his arrest. On Tuesday at approximately 6:45 a.m., members of the Springfield Police Firearms Investigation Unit, Massachusetts State Police VFAS, Hampden County Sheriff's Department, and U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force arrested Walker at a home on Pasco Road in Springfield. After Walker's arrest, detectives searched his home and found multiple rounds of ammunition. Walker had an active arrest warrant and was additionally charged with firearm-armed and masked robbery and possession of ammunition without an FID card. Springfield Police said that this incident will continue to be investigated. Thousands of heroin bags found during search warrants in Springfield
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A multi-agency investigation led to the arrest of three Springfield residents and the seizure of two illegal firearms, more than 11,000 bags of heroin, and more than $92,000. In a news release from the Springfield Police Department, at around 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, a search warrant was executed in connection with suspected heroin/fentanyl distribution from an apartment of 21-year-old Jeremy Collazo on Plainfield Street. Inside the home, officers found Collazo, 22-year-old Jasmine Soto-Sepulveda of Springfield, and a small child. Approximately 700 bags of heroin, a large-capacity ghost gun, and more than $2,500 were seized. Both Collazo and Soto-Sepulveda were then arrested. Officers located Arvelo-Ruiz in his vehicle on King Street and detained him while a search warrant was executed at his home on Suffolk Street. Approximately 10,600 bags of heroin, an illegal firearm with a switch making the firearm fully automatic, 98 rounds of ammunition, five large-capacity firearm magazines, and nearly $90,000 were seized. Springfield man on probation arrested with loaded firearm
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A man from Springfield, who is on probation for armed assault with intent to murder, was arrested on Friday for being found in possession of a loaded firearm. In a news release from the Springfield Police Department, the Springfield Police Firearms Investigation Unit received information that 22-year-old Eric Brown was in possession of a firearm. Springfield man arrested for allegedly shooting at home with child inside Officers set up surveillance and observed him leave a home on Northampton Avenue and get into the back of a car. When the vehicle came to a stop on Mattoon Street and Brown got out of the car, detectives stopped him and found a loaded firearm in his jacket pocket. Two arrested after 175 mushroom bars, stolen firearm, drugs seized in Springfield
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Two people were arrested in Springfield on Valentine's Day after a stolen firearm, mushroom bars, and drugs were seized during a traffic stop. Massachusetts mother pleads guilty to stealing child's Social Security benefits On Friday, Springfield Police Firearms Investigation Unit (FIU) Detectives were trying to locate a 17-year-old boy who had an active arrest warrant. At around 5:30 p.m., Detectives saw the boy and a second person, who was later identified as 21-year-old Keyshawn Watson of Springfield, get into a car on the 700 block of State Street. A traffic stop was conducted and the 17-year-old was placed under arrest. Watson was found holding marijuana during the traffic stop. Detectives recovered a loaded firearm with 13 rounds of ammunition, 15.5 oxycodone pills, 43 grams (1.5 ounces) of marijuana, $830 in cash, and 175 mushroom bars were seized from the vehicle. The firearm was reported stolen out of New Hampshire.
