Man arrested in 2024 string of car thefts
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man accused of going on a theft spree last year was arrested on Monday after the stolen cars were all found on the same day, Memphis Police say. Nakiel Addison, 26, is charged with seven counts of theft of property $10,000-$60,000, theft of merchandise $60,000-$250,000, theft of firearm less than $2,500, burglary of a motor vehicle, and evading arrest. On May 9, 2012, a black Springfield XD .40 caliber firearm was reported stolen. It was not found until July 29, 2024. On May 12, 2024, a red 2020 Nissan Murano was reported stolen. It was found on July 29 with broken windows. Police say it had been reprogrammed, causing over $1,000 in damages. On July 19, 2024, a blue 2020 Nissan Maxima was reported stolen. It was found with several bullet holes, a broken window and had been reprogrammed on July 29. There was over $1,000 worth of damages reported to the vehicle. On July 26, 2024, a white Nissan Murano was reported stolen and found on July 29, 2024. The vehicle had more than $1,000 worth of damage, with a broken window, and was reprogrammed. Man sentenced to over 70 years for deadly Humboldt High School shooting On July 28, 2024, a company reported that two of their utility trailers, a Vermeer skid steer, two Vermeer stump cutters, and their white 1999 Chevrolet were stolen. The two Vermeer stump cutters and the Chevrolet were all found on July 29. The same day, a 2014 Infiniti QX60 was reported stolen. When it was found, it was damaged due to being in a crash and reprogrammed. Over $1,000 worth of damage was done to the vehicle. A 2019 Nissan Murano was also reported stolen the same day. It was found on July 29 with a broken window and reprogrammed with more than $1,000 worth of damage. On July 29, 2024, a 2019 red Chevrolet Camaro was reported stolen and recovered later that day. It was found with a broken window, a destroyed tire and had also been reprogrammed. A warrant was issued for Addison's arrest on September 10, 2024. Addison was committed to jail on Monday and is due in court on Tuesday morning. His bond has yet to be set. This story will be updated as more information becomes available. Man pleads guilty to trafficking narcotics into DC
WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — A man pleaded guilty in the U.S. District Court Wednesday to trafficking wholesale quantities of narcotics into the District, according to the United States Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia (USADC). The USADC said 69-year-old Ronnie Rogers pleaded guilty to: Three counts of conspiracy to distribute 400 grams or more of fentanyl, 100 grams or more of a fentanyl analogue, and 100 grams or more of heroin Conspiracy to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine and cocaine base Possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking offense Two 'Choppa City' street crew members sentenced for armored truck robberies According to the plea agreement, Rogers worked with co-conspirators to traffic fentanyl, heroin, cocaine and more into the District between July 2021 and November 2023. Drugs included: Over 12 kilograms of fentanyl and carfentanil (100 times more potent than fentanyl) Over 1967 grams of fentanyl analog (more lethal than fentanyl) Over 236 grams of heroin, over 500 grams of cocaine Less than 28 grams of cocaine base. The USADC stated that on Nov. 29, 2023, officers executed search warrants for Rogers' homes. Federal Aviation Administration to increase oversight, evaluate arrival rates at DCA following deadly midair collision At Rogers' apartment in the 1200 block of Massachusetts Avenue NW, the following was seized: A baggie containing a mixture of 494.8 grams of a mixture of heroin, fentanyl, and carfentanil A baggie with 704.8 grams of carfentanil An envelope containing 115.91 grams of fentanyl A baggie containing 201 grams of fentanyl Baggies containing 1,785 grams of acetaminophen and 18 grams of fentanyl. A Smith & Wesson SD-40 firearm A Glock 43 pistol and a Rugar LCP pistol $23,000 in cash Drug packaging materials and scales. The USADC noted that in Rogers' home in the 6500 block of Gateway Boulevard, in District Heights, Md., officers also found: Two baggies of 151 grams of fentanyl Plastic bags containing 2.4 grams of xylazine and 1.8 grams of heroin Baggies holding bundles of smaller bags containing 7.7 grams of fentanyl, heroin, xylazine, 1.4 grams of carfentanil, and 2.8 grams of acetaminophen 20 small baggies containing 5.1 grams of fentanyl, heroin, and xylazine Bags containing 97.3 grams of heroin and fentanyl, 45.4 grams of cocaine base, and 14.2 grams of fentanyl with xylazine. A Smith &Wesson .357 revolver A Springfield XD 9mm firearm A Canik TP9 pistol with assorted ammunition and magazines $1,524 in cash. Trump announces sweeping 'reciprocal' tariffs At another one of Rogers' homes located in the 2100 block of Pineview Court, Waldorf, Md., officers also seized a FedEx parcel containing 1,013 grams of fentanyl. The operation is part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) investigation, which dismantles the highest-level drug traffickers, money launderers, gangs and transnational criminal organizations that threaten the United States. Former Delaware County deputy charged with drug trafficking
JAY, Okla. – A former Delaware County K9 officer has been arrested on charges of trafficking drugs and stashing drugs, weapons, and credit cards from suspects after they were in custody. Michael Bernheisel, 47, of Disney, is charged in Delaware County District Court with willful neglect by a state officer, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in trafficking, and embezzlement. The former officer is accused of retaining some evidence for several cases up to 10 months, compromising the chain of custody. Sheriff Ray Thomas noticed irregularities in Bernheisel's investigation reports, insubordination, and failure to complete assignments, and offered him another position within the sheriff's department. In December, the former deputy refused to be reassigned and resigned from the Delaware County Sheriff's Office. The investigation shows Bernheisel worked at the sheriff's department between November 1, 2023, and December 9. During a search of his department-issued vehicle, a 2022 Dodge Ram Pickup K9 Unit, investigators found '333 items,' including 'narcotic paraphernalia, a Springfield XD Semi-Automatic weapon, a Taurus G2C 9mm, Semi-Automatic weapon, one of which was reported stolen by the Joplin Police Department. Other items included ammunition, cocaine, cannabis, cannabis derivatives, and over 20 grams of Methamphetamine, according to the 18-page probable cause affidavit. Investigators also found a Lipton canister containing cannabis in the vehicle's storage compartment and baggies containing drugs under the driver's seat, as well as driver's licenses and credit cards, court records show. Investigators also found evidence bags containing drugs, including one bag that contained over 32 grams of a 'white crystal-like substance,' a broken glass pipe, and a county-owned tablet not released to Bernheisel, court records show. Bernheisel also allegedly turned over a set of BMW keys, including 12 on a lanyard, to the sheriff's department.
