Rachel, Eain Yow, and Sivasangari storm into squash finals
PETALING JAYA: Malaysia's national squash players continue their strong run as all three have reached the finals of two tournaments on Saturday (April 27). Rachel Arnold and Ng Eain Yow delivered impressive performances to secure their places in the final of the Bronze-level Squash on Fire Open in Washington, D.C. Fourth seed Rachel upset top seed Rowan Elaraby in the semi-finals, winning 3-11, 11-6, 12-10, 6-11, 11-7 in a 51-minute match. "I'm pretty happy with my performance. I fought well on Thursday (June 27) in the fifth. It was edgy at times but I'm really happy with the win," she said. Rachel will take on third seed Amanda Sobhy in the final on Thursday (June 27). In the men's category, second seed Ng Eain Yow made it to the finals after taking down Egypt's Kareem El Torkey 11-5, 11-4, 11-6. "It was tight and close right up until the end. I made three silly errors when I had three match balls. "I think in the end I just managed to keep my nerves and managed to stay as positive as I could," she said. Sivasangari will meet Nouran Gohar of Egypt in the final.

Eain Yow aims to be on fire in Washington
KUALA LUMPUR: Ng Eain Yow is all fired up for the US$58,750 Squash on Fire Open which begins tomorrow in Washington after a boost in world ranking. The Malaysian moved up to a career best of world No. 10 yesterday. Asian champion Eain Yow is seeded second in the Washington event where he has a first round bye. His main challenge is expected to be against world No.16 Leonel Cardenas of Mexico in the semi-finals. In February, Eain Yow lost in straight games to Cardenas in the semi-finals of the Motor City Open in Detroit. The top seed is world No. 8 Marwan El Shorbagy of England. National chief coach Ajaz Azmat said Eain Yow is now much fitter and stronger in his game after training for a month in Bristol. "Eain Yow is all fired up to get the better of Cardenas this time. "He is motivated and looks confident after moving up to world No.10." National men's No. 2 Sanjay Jeeva and national women's No. 2 Rachel Arnold will also feature in the Squash on Fire Open. Yee Xin Ying rose a remarkable 12 rungs in her world ranking to 65th after she upset Egypt's world No. 44 Nadine Shahin and England's world No. 40 Lucy Beecroft to win the RC Pro Series in St Louis, the United States, earlier this month.
