Adam Thomas suffers double blow as ITV's 99 to Beat axed after just one series
Soap brothers Adam and Ryan Thomas fronted a brand new gameshow, 99 To Beat, but the Squid Game-like programme is being axed after airing just one series on ITV
Ryan and Adam Thomas ' gameshow 99 to Beat has been axed by ITV after just one series.
The Squid Game like TV challenge debuted this March, airing just before Britain's Got Talent during Saturday primetime. The hosts and show received mixed responses, with some even calling the brothers the "next Ant and Dec".
However, the show may have not impressed enough as former Emmerdale star Adam Thomas announced that the show had been axed by the broadcaster. It was the first time the duo had presented a TV show together, and even featured an appearance from their brother, Love Island star Scott Thomas.
It's a double blow for Adam, who experienced another ITV show axe back in 2020, when I'm A Celebrity Extra Camp was taken off air.
On the latest episode of their podcast, At Home With The Thomas Bro's, Adam explained: "When I am positive about something, it gets cancelled.
"Honestly, I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Like I did [ I'm a Celebrity spin off] Extra Camp presenting, did one series of that, got cancelled. The next presenting job I did was with Ryan, 99 to Beat, and that's got cancelled."
The axed show saw 100 people being pitted against each other in a variety of challenges in order to win a huge cash prize of £25,000.
After each game, those who lost were made to leave the competition for good until there was only one player left, having defeated the other 99.
Caitlin Lawlor won the huge cash prize at the end of the series, with the financial crime associate telling Lorraine after her win: "I loved it, it was a once in a lifetime opportunity and I am so, so glad I took it."
Adam's sad news comes weeks after he sent Emmerdale fans into a frenzy after teasing a return for his character. However, fans hoping to see a return for Adam Barton may have to wait a little longer.
Last month, the star took to his Instagram to share a photo of himself with the iconic sign, as he penned: "I'm BACK!!!!"
Adam's post sent fans wild, with one writing: "Is this true? Please be true!!!" as a second fan penned: "I really hope this is true as you were my favourite Barton ever!!!!!!!"
However, the Mirror understands there's currently no return planned for Adam, and he was on set for another reason. Many fans weren't falling for the prankster's post - as they predict he's there for another show.
